Dan Wolken, USA Today- Schiano is the focus

You are forgetting context with your "stats." Schiano had to rebuild a program at Rutgers so most of the losses keeping him near, but above, .500 happened in the first few years. After that he went to bowls, had them ranked and fielded a competitive team.

TB was not a good stint for him and he definitely failed at the NFL level....weird, sounds familiar...... Oh yeah, Saban was under .500 w/the Dolphins.

Not an exciting hire but he is a good coach that would be a 100% improvement over current state.

7th and 8th years he was 8-5, tenth year was 4-8. Maybe you're willing to accept a coach who takes 10 years to win championships, im not. If coach has losing conference record after 11 seasons in a mid major conference, thats enough context for me.

I would rather us hire Mike Houston than Greg Schiano. At least Mike Houston isn't linked in any way to the horrible scandal at PSU, and unlike Schiano he has won championships as a head coach at multiple levels. Ohio State has previously shown that a championship level FCS coach can come into the FBS and win and compete for championships on a regular basis. I would prefer for us not to shop at the Dollar Tree for a coach, but if our administration insists on doing so, I think Mike Houston is the best bet.

The only facts here are that he was at the program when this happened. It was alleged he witnessed Sandusky doing something but this was never proven.

I hate it as much as anyone but it is not fair to judge someone for something that may or may not have happened. I do agree that the stink of it is not good for Vols Football but I still take issue with hearsay; ever been accused of something that wasn't true?

I would wear crimson before I support a mediocre coach (and awful human being) who was associated and allegedly knew of a pedophile's actions

Schiano's alleged inaction (along with Joe Pa and the PSU admin) ****** up the lives of dozens of little kids

I DO NOT F'ING WANT!!!

I agree!!! He did a great job at Rutgers who was in worse shape than Tennessee. Also everyone knows Meyer is not gonna hire some slouch. This would be a solid hire
He's far from my first choice but I agree. He made Rutgers relevant and that's no small feat. I wouldn't be thrilled at all but I'd give him a fair shot.

And, this is the problem. Fellow SEC recruiters will not take issue with hearsay...and, we know, for a fact, that they will expand upon them. Unfortunate, but is reality.

This hire would come back to bite us sooner than later. After the title 9 mess, they are going to hire somebody with possible connections to the Penn State scandal? In the state we are in we can't afford a guy that was anywhere near that. It will get trotted out every time there is any negative news about the program. Schiano is a hard no. The fact that he is even in the discussion raises serious questions about the leadership in the AD.

He did the majority of that in the Big Least after V-TECH and Miami left.

He was such an amazingly well thought of coach at Rutgers that when they had a HC opportunity pop up and Schiano was available, they hired Ohio States previous DC and didn't give Schiano a second thought. Hmmmmm....

At Rutgers! Arguable the worst job in D1! Again, and you are leaving out 9-4 his last year with a bowl win; stop cherry picking data.

I would not be excited about him being the guy but it isn't worse than what we have as people are saying.

Don't trash a guy just because he isn't the guy you want. Promise you he would get us back to at least 9-10 wins a year.

Would you mind typing in complete thoughts? Not even sure who you are talking about?

Hey @John_Currie if you are hiring Greg Schiano do us all a favor and resign at the press conference. Absolute disgrace.

Plenty of other Tennessee schools worth support on Saturdays. And I say this as an Alum, if Schiano is in, I'm out. I don't donate a ton but I do cut a couple checks each year to the University (one is season tickets). They will have seen the last of my money, as insignificant as it may be.

Hopefully others will join. But as for me, I can't abide this route.
