Dan Wolken is a talentless POS.

Peyton Manning did something awesome recently. Why don't we all get out of the muck for two seconds and contemplate how fortunate TN is to have a kind human in the fold?

It's called deflection. These guys that were pushing for Schiano were just proven wrong and want to talk about anything else. Especially because the fans they spent weeks mocking look like Nostradamus now. With this shadow cast by these allegations against Meyer, Schiano would have been a disastrous hire before he coached his first game here. We were right. Now it's time for Wolken and his ilk to get a receipt on all that trash they talked.

LOL.

Tennessee fans reject Schiano in part because of allegations that he helped cover up sexual abuse allegations against a coach. National media, including most prominently Dan Wolken, basically says Tennessee fans are dumb hillbillies and those accusations have no real merit.

A few months later, Ohio State's head coach forced on leave on accusations that he (and his entire staff) were aware of domestic abuse by one of their coaches, but ignored it.

National media says "one thing has nothing to do with the other."

Yup. Sure thing.

Up is down, down is up, and Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia.

What kills me about Wolken, Herbstreit, Brando, all the hacks who jumped on the 'clicks' bandwagon when Schiano was offered, don't have the balls to admit that we were right. I think the Schiano block will go down in TN football history as a major turning point.

Shocking. After one tweeet ever to Danny, I get blocked. Literally asked why Schiano was great enough to rebuild at Tennessee in the SEC but not great enough to take over a top 5 team and championship contending roster in a weaker conference.

Lmao, blocked!

It is very satisfying to see OSU having to deal with this after UT receiving so much criticism. The truth is, if they placed him in charge, there would have been protests like crazy, just like at UT, so they bypassed their “associate head coach.” Interesting... Karma is a...

Wait a minute. Schiano is Associate Head Coach by title? And OSU made another person interim?
Dead giveaway.

And we're not even talking permanent head coach hire. They don't even want him for just interim head coach.

Wolken is a former Tiger High beat writer who has extreme jealousy towards Memphis' perceived rivals (Ole Miss, UT, and Louisville). As someone who has had interactions with him, he is a pompous Ahole who couldn't carry the jock strap of the guy he replaced at the Commercial Appeal (Parrish)

Never thought I'd read a 1984 quote on VN. Excellent reference.

Sh*tiano would have been just another Botch Jones
EXACTLY!! The Schiano hire was all about kicking the can down the road for another 3 or 4 years and do the same thing again. UTAD had become about counting beans and winning was something nice to have but totally unnecessary. UT and it's administrators took the school off the grid of being competitive in sports. I THINK and HOPE that has changed, only time will tell.

If Dan were both smart and vindictive, he would argue that the main reason Schiano is unemployable in this situation is the way Tennessee fans painted him as being complicit in sexual abuse on SchiaNO Sunday. That position would affirm what he said previously and acknowledge the reality of the current situation. Of course, Dan is not smart.

I don't understand why so many get so upset over the words of sports journalists. The qualifications and knowledge possessed by most in that profession are below the standards of at least 25-33% of Volnation posters (who do not post for a living). With a few exceptions, it's not like these people are intellectual luminaries. Dan Wolken is certainly not one of the exceptions. I think we should just be thankful that some organization is providing him with an income so that we do not have to support him with our taxes.

Of course it doesn't, because it makes you look like the JA that you are.

You ran your mouth about UT's handling of Schiano and now given the chance he gets looked over for a 39 year old with no experience. And theres a good chance he's coaching that football team for the 2018 season at the least.

The jokes on you cuz.

I think it's also possible that due to the allegations against Meyer that placed him on leave, and the reaction of VN when Schiano was offered the job and what allegations were thrown at Schiano that day. it may have blackballed Schiano for interim head coach because the terrible instances are at least some what similar. So maybe OSU would have ideally picked Schiano but between the 8 hrs after the report and Creyer's admin leave announcement they may have thought of all possible out comes and decided that due to current circumstances GS was a possible lightening rod for other fan bases and media to strike.
Other side of the argument is maybe Schiano knew about PSU and OSU and Wolken is just wrong. Just an outsiders perspective
