Damien Thigpen

Go out on a limb why don't you?

The question is who will.

Jarvis Giles...honestly, if you're playing for a coach and not a University, do we really want you? I mean he's talented, but I want kids who are gonna give it there all fo the school...ala Eric Berry and Gerald Jones.

I think we need to start looking at kids who really want to play for the U of Tennessee not the Coach. The recruit should be loyal to the school and play ball because at the end of the day the are receiving a free education.

It all really depends on who they hire. If they move quickly the new coach can start to develop relatonships with our currents commits. I they hire a coach who already has a job (Davis, Muschamp, etc) that of course could not happen till seasons end. If they hire some who's not currently employed (Kiffen or Cowher-please god i'll be a good boy) then that can happen immediately.

Losing Giles would be a huge loss. He's more than talented bro; he's a stud and a leader. Our short-term success hinges on this class and shunning our top recruit when he has yet to do anything is stupid. He would give his all for UT, or any other school he goes to for that matter. He's been solid from day one, and now he has legitimate concern.

For some reason you are missing the point. JG is enrolling in college in January, less than 2 monthes away. He has to find a place to live, roomates, schedule classes, and a dozen other responsibilities as well. I'm sure he had already done these things and his part to enroll early, it was UT who didn't uphold their committment to him. His dreams just hit a roadblock and he is rightfully stressed and upset. Get off your high horse long enough to at least see that.

JG should take other visits and in no way should it be looked at as betrayal. We knew this would be messy. Bringing in the right coach in a timely fashion is the only way to minimize the mess. We do that, we don't lose any key recruits. UT would be lucky to retain JG and I hope we do. Likewise, JG would be making a poor decision if his emotions cause him to decommitt. We made a change for the better, and better days are in the near future (I hope). This is the time to jump on and be apart of our new era. He should be critical, but not jump off yet.

why do you say that? you have no idea.

Berry is from Georgia, and he loves Fulmer, from what I can gather he was really pissed at CPF's conference yesterday. But this is niether here nor there.

I HOPE we can retain JG. It seems he could be a great asset to any team. But that is up to him, it is his future. As for Stokes, I hope that Boyd's steady commitment will help Stokes keep a level head and make a calculated decision about his commitment. Ultimately CPF's job was in the hands of all the outspoken critics, so everyone who so strongly advocated his removal can't complain about ANY recruiting situation. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.

I agree on the last part, everyone who was anti-Fulmer, despite the dropoff of recruits, is now in no position to be upset by the decommitments.
