One of the areas that CTV took pride in when he took the job is that loyalty is a huge thing for him. Whether it is related to coaches, players, or administration. That has now gone by the wayside as there is no loyalty in either direction. No loyalty toward players by the coaches and no loyalty toward coaches from the players themselves. I don’t fault CTV, he is playing the game with the rules that have been put in place. Either play the game or you get eaten alive. But it’s still a shame that college sports have shifted in this direction. That is sad. No loyalty to a young man who busted his butt for the team. I hope Bargo tears it up at NC State.
It is my belief that you are being very unfair making this implication about loyalty going by the wayside with Coach V. You have no idea exactly went on between Coach V and Dalton Bargo. Do you? Sources? One of the areas that CTV took pride in when he took the job is that loyalty is a huge thing for him. Whether it is related to coaches, players, or administration. I honestly believe that both CTV and Dalton thought he would be taken in the draft. With that in mind, I can see how CTV would have discussed this with Dalton right after the season and not hold a spot for him if he didn't get drafted. One of the areas that CTV took pride in when he took the job is that loyalty is a huge thing for him. He didn't blame coach V. He blamed what college sports has become.
Yep. I think Vitello makes it pretty clear to his prospects that his plan is to assemble as much talent as possible and then compete for the positions on the field. He also always seems generous with mixing the lineups and substitutions.I really don’t think this situation has much to do with “what college sports has become.” It’s pretty obvious that both Coach V and Bargo thought he would get drafted and he would start his professional career. That didn’t happen, and Coach V not knowing that ended up recruiting like he normally would to fill the position.
I don’t think this is an example of not being loyal to your guy. You could make the same argument in the reverse about how keeping Bargo would be anti-loyal to one of the sophomore or juniors on the roster who thought they would get a chance to play.

Loyalty has a time component to it. If any player, by his choosing or not, can be exited within or at the end of any season, the time component is lost. As you say, it's a brave, new, cumbersome, awful world we have to live in now.One of the areas that CTV took pride in when he took the job is that loyalty is a huge thing for him.
