Will be at the state fair Saturday for Texas OU. Any bars around the cotton bowl in walking distance that would have our game on?

Dude, have you ever been to fair park?

Do yourself a favor and drive north to somewhere around SMU at least.

Not walking distance, but a 30 minute drive depending on traffic; but the UT Alum Assoc. meets at Pluckers in Plano. 3316 Preston Rd, Plano, TX 75093

There is a reason Fair Park is fenced in. The fair is actually pretty cool. I would recommend going early and just enjoying the fair. I think your game ticket gets free admission. And it's part of the whole game day atmosphere. I think each team normally does a pre game pep rally also. You can buy beer at the fair.

Edit: just saw why you asked about a bar. For our game. I'd tape it and just stream via ESPN app

If I go to the fair, I usually ride the train. I was told that kids, 9 or 10 years of age were now running through the trains grabbing backpacks, phones, purses, etc and timing their run to jump off the train at a stop. Don't leave anything in the car that looks like it might be worth a smash and grab. If you go to Deep Ellum or Lower Greenville, do not walk by yourself. Dallas proper is just not that cool of a place anymore.

Taking train from Richardson. I am most likely not going to game, wife's family is and they want to piddle around at fair after the game. I would like to watch it from somewhere close since they will be sticking around.

I empathize with you but listen to the ones saying don't do it. You're better off getting back on the train to Richardson. The Pluckers in Plano is not very far from there. There is also a Pluckers north of Richardson in Allen. It is sure to have the game on but it will be full of Aggies.

I hope you enjoy your trip.

I agree with my fellow TX residents. Avoid that part of Dallas and head north to Plano.....or head west to Fort Worth, which is my city. I will be in College Station.

Go to Twin Peaks in Plano. Can't speak to the crowd but the food is good and the beer is cold. I'm sure the game will be on multiple flat screens there.

Yeah that's a good venue. Hooters is also a good place and not far from the Plano train station either.

Trying to remember where the alumni go? I want to say it's still Frisco?

There's also Bone Daddy's in Richardson.

Sounds like a place where you paddle the canoe faster if you hear a banjo.

If Lil Wayne or Jeezy mix a banjo in...doesn't sound like you know the demographics around there.

It's an awesome neighborhood. Bring a $50.

We're trying to NOT get him knifed Butchna 😬

Yeah thinking back UTAA used to meet at a Frisco bar but there was some kind of issue so they moved? Don't remember details as I tend to just watch at home or with close friends (who understand my bat **** crazy football watching antics and won't call the cops)

Edit: also if time is of the essence getting in or out of Fair Park you're screwed for about an hour before or after the game (at least). Frankly the wife and I won't go near Fair Park on RRSO weekend anymore. Too many damn people and no reason to subject ourselves to it. If we followed one of the teams that would be different.

Edit2: and riding the train doesn't really alleviate the time issue. The trains are pretty much full in the time window now too. They have caught on more in recent years. We did it once. Didn't think it worth the hassle so we drive Fair Park. AA Center is another story for concerts, Stars, and Mavs. Train is the only way we do that now
