You guys seem to think, for some unknwon reason, that Chris Leak is overrated as a QB. Leak finished last year with 8,271 career passing yards. At his current pace, he may well end his career with more yardage than the current number one career SEC leader Peyton Manning (11,020). And remember that Leak has finally had the same offensive coordinator for two years in a row -- his numbers ought to be (and so far are) better than years past.

Four SEC defensive lines ranked in the nation's top ten last year -- Tennessee, LSU, Alabam, and Florida -- and each suffered key losses. Except for Florida. Florida's front four are the same as last year and there is tremendous depth there.

You guys seem to think Florida lacks tradition. Over the last 25 years, the Gators' SEC record is 133-42-1. That ranks #1 in the conference. If it makes you feel better, you are #2 at 126-47-3.

I like to think that the SEC has been around for longer than 25 years :)

Yeah, but if you go back much further than 25 years then you are sort of living in the past, wouldn't you agree? I mean, Harvard was the number one team for awhile .... in like the 1920s. Don't think you will see them in a BCS bowl anytime soon.

Two things wrong there, first in passing yards Manning had 11,201 and secondly the SEC passing leader is not Manning it is David Greene with 11,528.

well isn't 25 years in the past as well? if ur going to talk about tradition then it does go to the past, yes as bad as i hate saying it bama has tradition that dates back a long long time, they have 12 NC's we have 6. I honestly don't know how many Florida has, I know Auburn has 1 and they want to talk about tradition and i'm like what tradition.

Just like a gator fan to use the 90's to count as "tradition".

Be prepared to play the part of the witch in The Wizard of Oz because soon you'll be melting!!!

Hey,all I'm saying is that over the past quarter century, the Gators have ruled the roost in the SEC. Would it make you feel better if I changed it around and said that Florida is the up and comer in the SEC over the last 25 years and that you and bammer are fading like cheap paint?

Florida had a little growth spurt while Spurrier was there, since he has left there growth has been retarded.

Chris Leak came out of high school touted as "The Savior" for whatever program he went to. Ron Powlus came out the same way. Powlus owned over 20 ND passing records (which Brady Quinn subsequently broke...also, ND does not have a conference so it is either team records or national records,) yet Powlus never won a championship. Most Notre Dame fans, myself included, are not huge Powlus fans. Leak can put up all the numbers he wants, however, he was supposed to come out and win national championships at Florida, along with a Heisman or two...he has laid eggs in both categories, and has also failed to bring Florida even an SEC East title.

Also, one stat that Leak does not even get close to Manning on is career wins (39 for Manning, 24 right now for Leak...)

Florida ruled the roost from 93-97...

Depends on how many years you select and how to spin the stats.

Regarding the 25-year mark, Tennessee has 223 overall wins from 1981-2005, while Florida has 222.

Tennessee is tops among SEC schools from 1996-2005 with 95 total wins (Florida has 93) and also tops among SEC schools from 1986-2005 with 184 wins (Florida has 180).

Going back to 1926 (Neyland's first season), Tennessee has more wins (622) than any other NCAA school. Florida has 511 over the same time span.
