Daily Beacon article this morning...

If considering someone that seems like a good family man and hard worker with integrity someone to admire than that's fine with me. In today's age we should be proud to have someone like him represent the university as its tough to find in role models.

It's easy to come on a board like this and act like trash the way you do. I'm sure it comes from envy that you will never be admired by others in the same way.

Haha you Dooley worshipers crack me up. He was hired to do a job and he has failed. Period

I agree fire the man for doing a bad job but still sympathize with him as a human being. I like Dooley personally...he seems to have the right attitude. If we do are horrible at our normal jobs we still get to come home and no one is the wiser. But when coaches like this do a bad job of coaching then it is spread all over the world and that has to be tough.

Of all the people that keep hammering about Dooley being a great guy and liking him personally...

How many people actually know Dooley personally? Just curious. I can't say I like someone because they do a 20-minute TV show and have radio spots and hold press conferences and just so happen to be THFCATUTK.

Too many people have no respect for others. Calling cdd names and running him down, from a personal aspect, shows a lack of class. I felt it was time for Fulmer to go but I never called him names or quit supporting the team. Cdd's record will decide his fate, not how many fans can disrespect him. Some people act like he is intentionally trying to hurt UT. He is not. He is giving it his best effort, which probably will not be good enough, but is worthy of respect. If a man is working for me, and he's doing his best,I'm not going to call him names and run him down. At the end of the day, I may have to let him go because his best isn't good enough, but I don't lose sight of the fact that the man gave his best and deserves respect. For those who think a buyout makes their poor treatment of the man acceptable, you really need to grow up. This is not a defense of cdd's coaching, it's a defense of treating honorable people with dignity. Not winning football games doesn't make someone a bad person, so why treat them like one? Losing is unacceptable at UT, and most fans know that, so let his record decide his fate and stay classy.

So because he failed does that mean he deserves to be berated? (honest question)

I can agree that Dooley has not gotten the job done so far and that this year has been disappointing to say the least but that doesn't mean that I should disrespect him or talk bad about it.

I don't heckle and never have. But let's be honest here. Dooley himself took his wife and his son out and sat near a bunch of agitated and probably drunk fans. He could have taken them any number of places to have a moment but for some reason he lead them to that boisterous, drunk crowd. Why do that? He's not a dumb guy and he's been around SEC football and he's obviously aware fans are not happy with his performance. I've not said it was ok but I know I'd not put my wife and kid in that situation.

the responsibility is on the fan, not the coach and his family. Your blame is misplaced

A guy's character is of little importance when he is paid a large sum of money to produce results.

That's why Bobby Petrino will be a HFC somewhere soon and Shula hasn't even been considered.

Well I guess our priorities are different in life. Cause I don't care how much a man makes integrity is more of measure of a man to me. To each thier own.

I've just never been comfortable with public humiliation. Just me, I guess.

I agree. We should be thankful that we have a class act like Dooley that can teach these guys the fundamentals ande ven some other stuff like showering.

Agree 100%, for once. nobody has more integrity than CDD. he's our coach so you know he's got class.

I didn't say the fans were not to blame. But if you were in his shoes would you take your wife and young son and put them in that situation? Parents have to make decisions all the time about where to take their kids.

I didn't mean to come across as saying you heckled and sorry if I did. I didn't read the article either so I don't know that Dooley got heckled with his family. I think the OP has just talking about seeing him embrace his family. If he did take his family out around fans and they did get heckled like that then yeah it wasn't one of Dooley's brightest moves. Still doesn't make it ok for someone to heckle a guy and even worse when it's with his family.

That's exactly what I've said. It's dumb to heckle. But it's also dumb to subject your wife and young son to such happenings when it's very easy to avoid. The fans were wrong as was Dooley.

Families show up for each other. The implication should be that grown individuals don't make children cry.

Excerpt from today's Daily Beacon:

Has the sympathy card been played? What is your take on this? Should we really feel sorry for Dooley? Or does he deserve the heat he's under right now?

EDIT: to clarify, I do genuinely sympathize with the man. It breaks my heart to see such a nice guy have such a bad turn of events. It really does...

I don't feel sorry for his million dollar contracts for no results.

if I were the coach would I take my family to watch the game? Of course I would since a HC's time at home is limited. They were a split second away from seeing UT upset SC and that's something to share with your family
