Daily Beacon Article on Kiffin

the worst part of the beacon is when they pretend to have a clue about sports...especially my beloved football team.

Why wouldn't they interview football palyers? Or at least sports people up there.....Do we honestly care what a sophomore in industrial engineering says about Kiffin? I sure don't!

Hmmm, Wonder who is worse now, Beacon or Sports Animal without their "inside" info anymore. Not that EITHER is ever been spectacular.

The beacon is as bad at reporting old news as gvx is.

Anybody interested in taking my job so I can come back to school, sleep til 12, skip the 1220 class and show up at my 230 class ten minutes late (because I was playing halo) so I can read the beacon and find out it still sucks? I am accepting inquiries from all who are interested.

True. It's also the equivalent of your post and mine as well as most everything posted here.

I wouldn't say that. I know my opinion is nothing more than a bunch of text on a message board. I'm sure that some of those kids felt like their mindless drivel was more important because of their status as students.

Also, I would say this for you, I think there is considerable more thought and also reasoning based on facts put behind your opinions than what they exhibited... hence the Jay Walking reference.

Can I please state not all UT students are as ass backword as those quoted. I for one know something about this stuff. The comment bout frat row makes no sense. Some of the biggest fans I know live on row. Also a lot of the kids coming in are not real football fans. They skip games to study. Its dean thompsons dream. ****** sports no greek life and a campus of nerds. UT faculty at its finest. Wonder why KPD is cracking down? UT admins

I have noticed a decline in Hell Raising at football games. I didn't know if it was a football quality thing or a student mentality thing. I guess it was a mix of both.

It is pretty sad. Cops literally post up outside of the houses every night. Game day they are pricks and blame the brothers for the alumni's stuff. Also KPD is now starting to try and over hype parties so they can have people kicked out of school and the dean of students is ok. Crime and rape is rapant in the fort but UT doesn't care and KPD would rather have cops on the strip for citations then patrol.

that article was horrible. Whoever did that thing interviewed bunch of freshmen girls about the UT coaching job.

Let's see, of all the people who have their pulse on UT SPORTS, let's poll the FRESHMEN GIRLS!

:dunno:

These student must not care about wins-losses or not care about experiencing fun times. The generally unwatchable football over the last 5 or so years has really made gamedays as a whole, not fun, football fan or not. Some people are alright I guess with a pessimistic tailgate and 3.5 hours of misery afterwards. And I know for a fact that, even before this economic slowdown, that the bars have been down after the games.

First of all, why are they interviewing women? Jk ... but seriously

Come on...do we have to go there? For the record, my boyfriend's best friend teases him all the time because he says I know more about football than my boyfriend. Just saying that some of us ladies are fans for more than dressing up on gameday and tailgating.

You are an exception the general rule. If there was a poll about the quality of programming on the Lifetime network would you go interview a bunch of 20 year old men? Hell no! That isn't to say that all women watch Lifetime and no men do but when you are conducting a poll you usually try to go after the segment of the population who is most likely to know about the subject. Whoever did the article is a Fulmer supporter and purposefully solicited responses from people whose opinion was more likely to be an emotional comment about Fulmer than about the facts of the coaching hire.

I'm sure the Editor was like "Go find a story about people not liking Kiffin. We need something juicy."

The reporter came back to the editor with this: "Well I couldn't find anyone who disliked the hire, but I did find some women in the engineering department who knew who fulmer was."

This may be the worst article I have ever read. FRESHMAN and tons of girls. Seriously though, poorly written and the people interviewed have no idea what they were talking about

That would imply that The Beacon has editors and I'd hope that no editor would allow that kind of garbage to be printed. Do they have the same editor as the KNS sports section?
