Da' Rick Rogers to Colts

My only wish is that Dallas would have picked him up.

That's just hateful spite. My wish is that he gets it through that granite head of his, he's running out of chances. He has an opportunity most of us can't even dream about. If he once again proves he's too stupid to understand that and take advantage of it, it really is his last chance. At that point, I don't believe either MacDonalds or the Elephant Dung Inspector Guild would hire him. Yes, that actually is an occupation. Link

I get so tired of hearing that he deserves a second chance. This guy had so many second chances and did nothing with them. I don’t think for one minute he is trying to turn his life around, he is just doing what he has to in order to get a fat paycheck. Take the NFL away and he will be back to his old ways in no time. So many on here keep calling him a great VFL, I disagree. He lost the privilege of being a VFL when he was dismissed from the team. He let the coaches, his team and the fans down because he would not put down the weed. Sorry, I just can’t look the other way because the guy has talent.

Can't speak for others. DR doesn't deserve a darn thing in my book. That doesn't give me license to spew spite as too many seem to relish doing. Or hope he turns himself around. Like you, I don't really think he's trying given his history that just keeps repeating itself. Yet, I hope I'm wrong. And that's why I said, and meant every word of it, if he screws this chance with the Colts, no one even on the lowest rungs of employment is going to hire him. If you can't make the effort to accept an upper echelon opportunity that is practically handed to you on a silver platter trimmed in gold, you are not worth hiring. He doesn't deserve the opportunities, yet it is being served to him by high class butlers serving him at the king's table - again. But it's his final meal if he's too stupid to understand this.

The question is if the Colts can reshape poor character into good character. They believe they can or they would not have signed him, even if it's to spend his days there on the developmental squad. Physically he adds value at WR. He is not all that by any stretch of the imagination. He was overhyped here. He lacks speed and effort at times. Maybe he will get down to work and learn a better way to live and work. Until he does he is still Duh-Rick to me as UTProf points out with his "honky" username.

My concern relates more to how he behaves if he has success. I am so tired of former Vols reflecting poorly on the school/program with their junk and serious mental lapses off the field. The prisons and courts have hosted too many of the high profile ex-players.

Despite my continued cautious and yet waning support for DR, I have a dreading fear that your concerns about what he does if he has success. Hoping mightily that I'm wrong, I see DR as showing overly obvious signs of being T.O. jr. can't keep his pants zipped, brings negativity to the locker room, can't keep his mouth shut and so forth.

I hope he makes it for no other reason that if it doesn't he will most likely be a drain on society.

Out of CP, DR, and JH

Darick is the most complete WR right now

CP needs to learn routes and catch a little better, amazing with the ball though

JH is just flat out scared of contact

DR is like a faster Anquan Boldin....4.52 isnt slow, will go after the ball over the middle, 1000 yds being double teamed, he is a physical freak

You don't watch football much, huh? Most complete wr? Maybe you should be a nfl scout because he didn't even get drafted. DR is a hasbeen, a complete waste of talent. He won't learn from his mistakes until people quit helping him:mf_surrender:

Evidently the Colts want Da Rick Rogers now.

This thug gets way to many second chances.

He smoked weed, duh. Something that is legal in 2 states, virtually legal in a 3rd, something that 90% of college students have tried, including our last 3 presidents.

Just wondering if the OP went back to his Klan meeting to give us a definite definition of thug.

Thug? He failed a drug test for marijuana. I think Labor Day weekend has fried alot of people's brains.

He did not fail "a" drug test, he failed lots of them. Also wasn't he arrested before he even played his first game?

Thug is too strong but he is getting lots of second chances. And for you who say its just pot, marijuana is still illegal in this country. Its not like he got a ticket for doing 5 over.

If this was the standard, there would be no NFL... Lets face it, talent will allow personal character to be covered up.

You dont pay attention do you..? Have you forgotten his arguments with coaches and trainers? The people who were hired to help him.. The weed is a symptom of his problem, not the cause. DR has issues and they're not unique to him as we have seen talented players waste opportunities before. Dont just think people view him as a thug for smoking weed he has some antisocial personality problems that turn people off.

He broke the rules. Period. You surely don't think he got dismissed his first time smoking weed? Its not legal in tn.or with NCAA. He's gone. I loved to watch him play when he was here but never was a thought after he left.myself and I'm sure lots of others would love to have had the opportunities he's had and still is getting..good luck to him but vfl status shouldn't be awarded to someone who didn't end there career even a vol.jmo tho

That doesn't make him a thug. Neither does throwing the Kentucky game because he didn't want to go to a crappy bowl game. Neither does throwing weights at the strength coach. Neither does constantly swearing at the WR coach (who also quit coaching for UT because he wasn't allowed to discipline Da'Rick). Neither does standing over players and taunting them on his new NFL team while also being aware he's on a short leash.

Nope, Da'Rick is not a thug. He is simply a victim of circumstances.
