Da Reds thread

Very good and well written article on Votto. He makes very good points regarding AVG. with RISP and Votto's seemingly lack of power this year.

Eradi-Why Joey Votto's RBI Total Matters

Good post. Read it on from a post on the Reds site. Glad he thinks he can explain why JV can't knock in runs since his injury, or did he? Nah. JV is not hitting half his weight with RISP throughout the season. That will not work for guys making $20+ mill per year. Stats and comparisons cannot explain it away. He simply is not approaching the AB the same, the swing is not the same, his eye is off on the strike zone. Will see if he gets it back or not.

Really good third base coach. The team missed him.

Speier did as good as he could, but you can definitely see how good Berry is out there after watching Speier. Classy of giants to give him an ovation when he first went out to the 3rd base box yesterday.

Probably, not sure an aging shortstop with declining power numbers is really worth what they seem to be asking for if the cardinals offer that was reported the other day is true

Pretty sure that Cardinals offer was shot down as being not true or nothing more than a total stretch. It was reported by exactly 1 writer I believe.

And in terms of his actual role, he'd be a perfect 2 hole hitter for us. He doesn't strike out much and sliding him in front of Votto would surely give him many many more pitches to hit than he currently receives hitting in front of Rios, Konerko and Dunn.

I'd expect the Sox to absorb some of the salary if we give up anything of value for him.

That would make sense, didn't pay much attention to the cardinals thing after that first article.

Other good thing about Ramirez is he is not just a rental player

Maybe Ramirez happens if Luddy isn't doing well. But if Luddy is on schedule and starts hitting they will be moving BP back to the 2 hole IMO.

Hope they hold onto Robinson when Luddy is back. I think he brings more of an overall package than Paul.
