Da Reds thread

something needs to happen quick. all of our pitching is horrid. is this an issue with price. i was excited when we got rid of pole and hired him. but what other explanation is there for all of our pitchers getting rocked. this is becoming a little embarassing. i know the padres are hot right now, but come on. this team should be able to beat them and the pirates mightily if we are really taking steps to contend for anything.

I can tell you right now, if things do not get fix as the season progresses, Dusty Baker could be in trouble.

he has been not been in the best of graces with the majority of the fanbase for quite some time. i understand constantly changing managers can be tough in terms of building a good team, but he is obviously not getting it done. i am sure the players love the guy, but the fans get a little tired of him moping after every game. i sure have. look at tampa and how they operate on a low budget, yet have competent leadership. oh the joys of being a reds fan. hopefully, we can return to glory at some point in my lifetime.

Went down to the game today and while Cueto didn't look all bad, the Reds' offense/lack thereof was absolutely abysmal. As far as I can recall, they didn't so much as make it to third base, and as the score plainly showed, they certainly didn't score any runs. As fun as it was (and always is) going down to a game, the outcome left a lot to be desired. With an extremely strong emphasis on A LOT.

thanks for attending. as bad as there are right now, if i was close enough to go i certainly would attend. they need to seriously group the wagons and figure out whatever is going on and get it straightened out.

Bailey's stuff looked a lot better today, but he still didn't have a great game in terms of runs allowed.

Bruce had a nice 3-4 game with 2 doubles (against a lefty). Since the beginning of the second week of the season, Bruce has been hitting very well.

I think it's time management addressed the strong possibility that Dickerson and Stubbs are AAAA players.

O-Cab isn't helping us at all, offensively or defensively. Janish has definitely earned more playing time. If he could hit .250-.260, I would be more than fine with him as everyday shortstop.

Got a new lineup tonight... and Phillips isn't hitting cleanup. Nice!

Drew Stubbs 8

Brandon Phillips 4

Joey Votto 3

Scott Rolen 5

Jay Bruce 9

Orlando Cabrera 6

Jonny Gomes 7

Ryan Hanigan 2

Aaron Harang RHP

Don't like Cabrera hitting 6th, but it will be interesting to see how this shakeup works.

it seemed to work out alright. all that hinged on how well bruce and hanigan hit tonight. in the first after harang gave up one on hanigans throw i thought for sure he would let the bottom fall out early. but harang ended up having a good game overall and maybe that will help get him going. if the first 4 guys in that lineup can get rolling offensively it will be great.

Agreed. The Bullpen, Bruce, Hanigan and Harang carried the team last night. Was very good to see, especially Harang finally having a good start. And when the pen came in, Herrera, Masset and Cordero just shut the 'Stros down completely.

Hanigan already has 10 RBIs. He only had 11 all of last season. He is also hitting a very nice .483 this season.

Masset doesn't seem to have the same kind of stuff he did last year. I don't know what has happened to him.

i like to think as of now that it is just a matter of him having been beaten around a little bit early in this season. hopefully, he will bounce out of it. leake was straight up nasty. he is by far the best pitcher we have right now in the rotation. the good think was cordero, who as usual scared the hell out of us, but got it done to get leake a well deserved W. tomorrow might be a tough day offensively.

I've never seen anyone work as slow as Oswalt has thus far. It's a little irritating.

very irritating and very unfair to hitters. this is the drew stubbs i wish we had every night. votto has done well in working the count and it payed off when oswalt made one bad pitch to him. bruce is playing very well and we can only hope that trend continues. so who do we call up with dickerson goetting hurt yet again as a red? probably heisey, i would hope, but i would not doubt if it was balentein. dusty seems to like that guy.

I bet they go with Heisey due to the fact that he can play all three OF positions like Dickerson can. That and the fact that Balentein is no longer on the 40 man roster after he was DFA'd.

The game is probably going to be suspended until tomorrow, but Jay Bruce has continued his success at the plate. 3-3 w/ a double and 2 rbi.

yeah, i remembered that earlier today. heisey is the best we have in terms of outfield guys to call up. glad he got the call.

picked up the win after the rain delay. bruce has really been clutch the past week. that is great to see.
