Sorry. I made two posts that weren't back to back.

We know there was some type of presumably major injury. If the leg is broken that would be the best case scenario for his future unless its some type of weird fracture with complications.

However, a blow like he took, with the amount of atypical transition that happened in the joint will typically lead to a major ligamentous/soft tissue injury. Those are usually more complicated, harder to come back from, include microfractures, and result in arthritic changes in the joint, which could lead to a more detrimental effect on his career
