How much do you think he carries the ball since tumbling Tauren is hurting and Lane starting? He is explosive and we could use him like Rainey IMO.

I think we should give him a chance at the RB position. As I watched the "Boys of Fall" video I realized how the good days of Tennessee football were those of Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, etc. We need to work on getting a feature back LEGALLY(unlike BB) that can carry 25-30 times a game and can move a pile. I think D Young should be given a chance at RB some plays. maybe not out of the I formation but couple draws and see what happens.

How big is Devrin?

Does he fumble with contact?

Has he ever practiced at this position?

Does it matter if the OL can't block?

Is this fanbase desperate?

Everybody knows if DY lines up in the back field were trying to get him outside, if we run him between the tackles he wont last long

Here is a quick number for you guys devrin placed 2nd in the state of tn in the 100m dash.. Running a 10.97 If you recall brandon james from flordia ran a 10.87. or even a better comparison chris rainey runs a 10.72. that is pretty dang close thats almost a blink of a eye difference.. devirn young is 5,8" tall weighs 165 supposedly chris rainey is 5,9" tall weighs 174. And look at what he is doing every week!!!
And he obviously has something marlin lane doesnt he look at what he has done on kickoffs and punt returns.. now dont tell me the other 10 players block better for deverin than for marlin lane... Explain the problem there!

Actually Young ran a 10.70 & 10.76 at the 2010 state meet, the latter being the finals placing him 2nd.

Rainey's best 100m is, I believe, a 10.66.

Devrin's plenty fast enough. Why this was ever questioned by anyone is one of the more mysterious things I've run across on this site recently.

He will get deeestroyed by LSU, unless he can reach the sideline which is hard because their d line runs like 4.5s

He's our fastest player going up against the fastest D we will face. Why would you not try it?

I love Poole ( no homo ), but I could chase him down in a golf cart.

If we are going to let him get hit by LSU returning kicks might as well have him get hit at RB or screen plays too. I mean these kids signed up for football they knew what they were getting into. Its not like its some suprise that they are going to take some shots here and there.

Marlin Lane is getting better every week. I am excited to see him as a starter. He almost broke 2 big ones against UGA last week.

Young however runs with the most intensity by far of anyone on our team when he has the ball. If we had other 11 other guys on offense that played that hard we wouldn't have lost these games against UGA and UF. I don't know why our guys look too soft and so neverouse out there lately. Are we just not recruiting rightor is it because of coaching??? Why is the center not benched??? His play is simply not exceptable. HHe lost that UGA game...that bad snap over Bray's head right after half changed the entire momemtum of the game and gave UGA good field position for a TD. And Dooley should have went for it on 2 fourth downs int he second half on UGA's side of the field.........our entire offense besides Young and Bray play like pussies.

At least with Simms I know he is tough as nails and will give 100 percent just like Bray did and Young does...i mean you can just see it when these type of guys play...they give their all. I want Dooey to recruit more of these type of players...players who would rather dfie than lose. The rest of them just look like they don't care.

Devrin is short, but actually pretty built. The staff has been worried about him laying the ball on the ground, but he answered the call against UGA. He didn't fumble, nor did he bobble a return. I don't think he can be a be a true between the tackles back - but I don't think people are looking for him to be. Just someone to try a few things with to see what he can make happen.

I am certainly all about getting him more involved until he proves he can't handle it.

This makes sense. His impact in the return game (20.7pp/26.5pko) has been immediate and profound. His speed and elusiveness in the open field are simply obvious. The little sweeps and bubble screens they've used a couple times would seem to be good ways of making use of these attributes but can he really be expected to produce as a conventional RB? I just don't know.

DY would be fantastic to use as a situational guy. Dump passes, screens, etc.

If we try to overwork him in October he'll get him killed.
