The troops oversees would like you to send it to everybody you know.

Don't know whether you heard about this
but Denzel Washington and his family visited
the troops at Brook Army Medical Center , in
San Antonio , Texas (BAMC) the other day. This
is where soldiers who have been evacuated from
Germany come to be hospitalized in the United
States, especially burn victims There are some
buildings there called Fisher Houses. The Fisher
House is a Hotel where soldiers' families can stay,
for little or no charge, while their soldier is staying
on base, but as you can imagine, they are almost filled
most of the time.

While Denzel Washington was visiting BAMC, they gave
him a tour of one of the Fisher Houses. He asked how
much one of them would cost to build. He took his check
book out and wrote a check for the full amount right there
on the spot. The soldiers overseas were amazed to hear
this story and want to get the word out to the American
public, because it warmed their hearts to hear it

The question is - why do:
Brad Pitt Madonna, Tom Cruise and other Hollywood fluff
make front page news with their ridiculous
antics and Denzel Washington's Patriotism
doesn't even make page 3 in the Metro section of
any newspaper except the Local newspaper in San
Antonio .

A true American and friend to all in uniform!

This needs as wide a distribution
as we can create. Share it!

This is pretty freaking cool imo. Im not the most active email forward guy, but I thought I'd pass this along. Your thoughts?

ouch, well that busted my bubble. Now I gotta email the person that sent it to me and tell em. I knew it was too definitive. Where was the word "allegedly" when you need it?

well fact or fiction, there is a point to be made. you see all these celebrities that have their views, (which most of them are stupid and uninformed) that are against the war and some against our troops. Then you have some (toby keith etc) that put on shows for the troops or help them out in other ways. Then you have the local celebrites. Students that get out, and take donations for care packages and send them overseas to people they have never met before thanking them for their service. but i guess stupid scientologists and dirty skanks are more important anyway. (jane fonda and her pics with the vietcong?)

It said he did make a donation large enough to build a house, it just wasn't on the spot.

Still a good story, seems like someone wanted to make it cooler.

yup GA, I agree with you. Although this isnt entirely true, the point is still made. It was disheartning to see that it was not as accurate as I thought but the idea/concept is simple. People with an abundance of resources can make a diffrence. If school organizations in this little country town in Texas can pony up some basic items and thank you letters to send the troops through fund raisers, a celebrity can help out to. Sometimes we should step back and take a look at ourselves and who is on the cover of Us Weekly. Im not grandstanding here, Im just pointing out the obvious. I think level headed people would agree. Republican, Democrate, Bush fan, anti Bush, it makes no diffrence. Your all entitled, but lets keep the big picture in mind.

Coker said Washington did in fact make a sizeable donation to Fisher House several months after his visit to BAMC. He declined to comment on the size of the donation, but it was not enough to build a new Fisher House.

It was sizable - but NOT enough to build a new Fisher House.
