D Scheme for Arky

It is a true wonder how I got out of Fayetteville alive last year. We got in a lot of fights. I didn't know arky fans hated us that much. While some of the fans do suck, I wouldn't quite call it a trailer park. It's not a terrible town. But the game in Ktown should definetely give us an advantage of some sort.

must of the hate comes from one of the last games we played you...you ran the score up on us. We don't forget easily. You guys have reasons to play well this game...Arkansas has nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Gonna be a good one i think. Normally the Neyland edge is too much to overcome, but it being a Morning (12:00) game will help out. Remember, the last 2 morning games for Arkansas ( Killed Auburn last year @ Aubrun, Killed Ole MIss @ Ole MIss)

Auburn not only had more on the line but they used (for a lack of better terms) a multiple spy package with the LB's. It worked pretty well for them.

Auburn has some damn good DL. We'll need to find those to make that work.

Not only do safeties need to play the run, but all 11 better be ready to stop McFadden and Jones

I say we go into "punt block" mode to shut down the run. Used to work for me everytime on Madden '99. :p

ARK - #2 nation in rushing / #111 in Passing
We load 8 in the box and make the QB beat us.
Our Offence has to win the time of possession keep the Ark offence off the field we have to run the ball with some play action pass.

I said that against UF and looked what happened.

He is the best tackler this side of Eric Berry on this D though.

Oh I agree...I just wish we could get him on the field more than mostly kick coverage and punt blocks (both at which he has excelled at)

I imagine JC will cook up yet another ole' defensive scheme, like he has much of this year.

It's not as simple as just stacking the box against our run game. If you do that it makes it a lot easier for Mcfadden & Jones to break long gains. I've been watching football for 30 years and I've never seen a pair of RB's combined that are better at "hitting the home run". I think you still have to put 8 in the box, but you better be careful because Mcfadden devours safeties that take bad angles on him once he gets past the front 7.

The key to limited our run game is to win the battle at the LOS (See Auburn).

Or Tennessee can just outscore us. Our defense has several holes, we aren't near as good as last season.

He's right. If you stack the box you better not let 5 or 25 get past the line. Also Monk is not 100% and Casey can't pass the ball under pressure.

Just pass the ball, our secondary sucks.

I expect a high scoring game and look forward to watching it.

Your absolutely right
Our linbackers can't get tangled up with your line

They have to be able to get clean looks at McFadden and Jones

If our safeties are making plays on Mcfadden and Jones, were in trouble
