Déjà Vu

Probably, Les Miles with a gaggle of former Vols on the staff. While I don't hate it and I understand it...I just wish we'd go ahead and get Leach, dude would be a game changer a la Spurrier in the 90's.

All you Leach supporters do realize that he has never won a championship and that he was OC for Kentucky in the late 90s under Hal Mumme and his best season at UK was 7-5. So when you say he would be a game changer, do you consider Hal Mumme, whose best season at Kenticky was 7-5 to have been a game changer?

You do realize he’s never had the resources of an elite program. It’s been Texas Tech and Washington State. Give him Tennessee’s budget and recruiting resources and get out of the way.

And what? Put it in context. Give someone like Brohm or Leach the overwhelming talent Les had, and they win multiple championships.

Dont bother. Leach is so good that all the big time schools came after him in 2012. But he chose Washington State. I mean why wouldnt any other big time programs go after the best offensive genius in modern college football?

Hmmm, wonder why Leach couldnt land a better job than WSU after TT? I mean he is such a game changer right?

I’d say it’s mostly because he follows his own rules and does things his way. Most big programs don’t like that very much.

And not to mention that he's more than just a little eccentric.

But winning football games can cover a multitude of personality quirks. I would've been interesting to have seen what he could have accomplished here at Tennessee.

Fulmer will make a safe hire. I will say that no news right now is probably smart. Let it die down a bit then get back to searching.

I honestly don't care if we win games by scores of 7-0 or 9-3 - just as long as we win.

The way some Fans want to rekindle the Past, I Expect Fulmer to Mend Fences with Johnny Majors any day now and Bring Johnny Home & resurrect Cafego ... I'm starting to wonder if Traditional Volunteer Football & Modern Football Technology Mix... I don't see a fast pace/hurry up & spread offensive Coach in Fulmer's plan for the next coach... In retrospect any team that had Manning should have thrown almost every down - If Mike Leach would have been coach we may never been a called run in a game...

Check the Stats:
Mike Leach had a 60/40 ratio last year
He runs the ball

Gotta have a championship team to win one
Also he was OC for Bob Stoops and Stoops said he was the best OC he ever had.
And yes 7-5 is good for UK in the 90s

That was good for UK then. Not to bad for UK now.

NO! Today's players want to show out; you know Throw it catch it and run it in and Score. You won't get much Talent to come to UT with that same boring chit we've seen. Much attendance either.

Could be. Who knows. Im starting to think maybe Miles is a smokescreen. Seems like he would be onboard already if he was going to be the guy.

This is a good point. Les may be the fall back guy in the event we can not come to terms with someone more in demand. If it was going to be Les from the beginning it would probably already be done......but, there's a chance it was Les from the moment Fuller was appointed, but he has to make it look like he's talked to everyone, completed his due diligence, and made the best choice for the university. We'll never know.

Some of my Clemson buddies think we should go with Chad Morris. Seems "butchish" on the face of it, but he did kill it at Clemson and great recruiter + building SMU. Don't know what to think. Hard to take him and not Tee.

Are we heading for another uninspiring hire?

I don't know that there is one Inspiring hire that the whole fanbase would get behind. There are a few that would get close (Kiffin, Gruden) but those are not realistic. Inspiration is not the word I am thinking of with this hire...instead its stability. Stability will bring inspired coaches and players. Inspiration without grit will get us no where. I have a list of hires that I think can stabilize the program but I despise giving a "top 5" so I will just say that I am hoping for a stabilizing force. No matter who is hired they will have detractors but that will all go away if they can stabilize and then right the ship.
