Cynicism and negativity on

The bottom line is that the last time Mike DeBord called a play as an Offensive Coordinator, the first iPhone was only SIX months old. By the time we open the 2015 season, it will have been EIGHT AND A HALF years since Mike Debord has called a play on offense. That is nothing to be excited about. Ambivalence at best. Those who are criticizing Vol fans who are disappointed in Butch Jones' seemingly nepotistic nature, are the ones themselves who deserve criticism. There are MANY reasons to be exceedingly wary of this hire. As a UT student, and a Vol fanatic, I hope DeBord brings this team back to prominence. But, it's totally ridiculous to be critical of anyone who is not excited about this hire...especially when looking at what Meacham and Cumbie did at TCU and what other young up and coming coaches have done at other places. Seriously.

VolNation. Why is it always the same posters that are always cynical and negative regarding anything TN. Does it make the anonymous feel important? Are they that arrogant to think they know more than the people in charge? Do they just like the Jerry Springer atmosphere on here? Does it give them the chance at a witty retort? What is it? I know its a forum but some of the stuff on here is embarrassing.

This is the post of the year in my opinion. Listening to a few people you'd never know that we just hauled in a second top 10 class specifically designed to meet our needs, have a coach that everyone in the country knows is moving us in the right direction, and are getting more positive buzz than we've received in a decade. No, there is no guarantee that it's all going to work out, but stop all the useless hand-wringing which accomplishes nothing. Enjoy the positivity and stop trying so hard to be negative.

Thank you OP!

Bottom line is, he's already hired.

This! Ignore button = skeerd!

Disagree. When I put someone on ignore, it doesn't imply that I don't agree with their opinion or position. It simply means that seeing their name means I already know what their post is going to say.

I haven't got the time to read redundant posts. It's that simple.

You are a U.T. student, which means that EIGHT AND A HALF years ago you were probably in the 5th or 6th grade, so it seems like a lifetime to you.

I am 65 now, and it seems like just a couple of years ago that I was living in Reese Hall, walking up to the Hill to Ayers Hall for a 7:50 Calculus class when I was a Freshman. Trust me. You will see the day that EIGHT AND A HALF years seems like about what 6 months seems now.

Amen, brother.
I'm not quite at your level, but at 44, I'm already starting to see exactly what you are saying.

I hear you, and it's been a long time since I was a student yet the last 8 years of UT football have seemed like an eternity.

At the very least, Butch Jones seems insular in the management of his staff. It is reminiscent of Fulmer, who until Dave Clawson always either promoted from within or hired coaches he had previously worked with. I also don't like the way he waited until after NSD to announce DeBord. It feels like he was slipping something in through the back door. It may not matter but DeBord has zero respect from the Michigan fan base. They laugh at him like we do Randy Sanders. Call me cynical but we could have done better.

This isn't about DeBord and it never was. This is about UT hiring Butch Jones instead of *insert "name" coach* in the first place.

Let me add my $0.02:

To all the bu**hurt fanboys who are still whining that UT didn't offer the entire Athletics Department budget to get John Gruden to accept a job HE DID NOT WANT: STFU, your shtick is old, tired, and very, very annoying.

How can anyone question the MAN thats the care taker of TENNESSEE FOOTBALL, i really dont think the young fans on here understand how far we were down in the SEC in talent level when the Butcher took the job when everyone of the so called big names didnt have the @alls to take the job, the man is going to win championships for us in the near future, starting with the East championship this year, but thats not enough for that so called 10 percent of so called VOL fans.:rtfm: We the 90 percent of the real VFL tell the other 10 percent to get the FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF out of here:rtfm: and go to vandy if you dont like whats going on.:rtfm:

One can either agree with someone's opinion or disagree with it. 95% of what is posted on VN is opinion, and nobody has the right to tell someone that their opinion is wrong. Agree, disagree and move on.

Well in my opinion I think you are wrong. :)
