Cutliffe is out (merged)

Cutty pulling his name out tells me. Hammy has locked onto someone. Facts are that this search has only gone on for two days and that is nothing for a college football search. Cut must have been told he was not going to get the job and he was allowed to save face.

I think Hammy will get it right. A few years ago a bunch of folks were calling Hammy Fulmers pet. He fires Fulmer and the timing of Kiffin's exit now everyone is calling for his head. Im pissed about Kiffin but after thinking about it, it is just the timing. Who would have ever thought Pete Carrol would leave USC.

I would be happy with Kippy but I think Hammy will pull a rabbit out his hat on this.

This is a pretty strange thread. I get that Cut wasn't most UT fans' first choice; but, uummm, he wasn't Hamilton's first choice, either. What that means is that UT's 3rd choice has now declined... now maybe it's me, but that doesn't sound very good; that would mean that UT is now down to guys who are even worse than Cutcliffe. Seems like hardly a reason to be celebrating. At this point, ANYBODY would be better than nobody... you can always make changes later.

When the coaches of Air Force and Duke turn down a job like UT, it's time to figure out what they know about the program that the rest of us don't. That'd be like Buttermaker turning down the New York Yankees manager job to stay with the Bad News Bears.

I don't buy this smokescreen conspiracy theory I've been reading about... that's kind of stupid. Why would the AD be stalling with smokescreens while his prized recruiting class is looking for the exits? No, that doesn't make a bit of sense; he'd be publicizing a great hire in every media outlet possible, to stop the recruiting hemorrhage. It's less than 3 weeks to NSD; and even the prospects who want to honor their commitments have to be getting nervous at this point. There is precious little time left for them and their folks to even develop a relationship with the new coach and his staff.

Most of the great choices have either already accepted new jobs or extended their existing contracts... a little late in the game to be too picky or make too many demands. You guys need to get somebody in the throne quick.

If you actually listened to the radio or watched TV, it was because of the "structure of the staff" wasn't agreeable.

which means MH said no to moving the entire all-star Duke staff to Knoxville. Good for him

When you're getting ultimatums from mediocre coach at duke, things are not looking good. UT should consider going interim for a year and let the top coaches apply during the 2010 season.

Well hopefully whoever does consider coming here doesn't log on to VolNation and read some of the post here.

It's enough to make a man and/or his family NOT want to come to K'ville. Just being honest. :shades:

Gawd I hope the Vols come out ok in this...at least in the longrun.

Anyone else think that Cut's wife said she didn't want him to end up in the Johnny Majors memorial hospital room?
