Cutliffe is out (merged)

We're almost to the point of.....well, I'm not sure. We're not going to get a "big splash" coach from a major college it seems. I'd feel a bit hypocritical UT did to some other program what Kiffin did to us anyway. Looks like our pool is down to current/former NFL coaches, or maybe some upstart coordinator from a lower tier BCS school or a coach from the FCS ranks. I'm running out of names. At this point, what are the odds that Kippy winds up with the job? My hope with the possible Cutcliffe hire was that either there would be someone on staff that would be ready to take the reins long-term in 3-4 years, or that Cut could hold down the fort and keep UT above water so that it would be a desirable opportunity for someone else to take over, presumably with far more than three weeks to get going before NSD. Should be an interesting day because I do think Hamilton wants a resolution ASAP.

I'll consider this a victory for now. I'll be back in a few hours, and maybe this awful mess will be over...

Cut is good fit for Duke. We need someone who can shake the tree and development Tennessee tradition and commitment in the players. Kiffin pushed the NFL to the recruits and they did not get a dose of "Why Tennessee,,,,What are Volunteers? Fans feelings about the game and the university...Those things are important too....by the way LK never got the message either.....Good ridence.....

He was required to retain some of the coaches Kiffin left but he didn't want to...he probably wanted the whole Fulmer staff except for Fulmer himself.

That is for the best, now end the search and let the guys that are here go about their business. We don't need any 5 or 6th choice guys. Hamilton has struck out and i'm fine with that. The board of trustees will give him his reward in a few months and all that was wrong with Tennessee football will be gone.

I agree with the post about pulling a Kiffen (intentionally misspelt). If we don't pull one of these amazing names floating out there then give Kippy the reigns for the year. I understand Cutcliff wanting to bring his entire staff, but I am glad that UT seems to be standing by Kippy and some of the guys who are still here.

this is going from bad to worse. Hammy is trying to show he can construct a real contract, and probably over doing it.

Whose the next most likely target for coach? I would try to find it myself but there is so much bs flying around that I don't think there is enough time in the world to weed it all out

I'm going to throw my name in the hat for consideration. I have no coaching experience, HC or otherwise. I have zero book knowledge of NCAA rules. I haven't even played football in nearly 20 years, and that was county youth league. I'm not much of a public speaker or a salesman either. I will surround myself with quality coaches and recruiters, including some of the current staff, so I do have some common sense. I will demand accountablility of our players and staff, and we'll play by the rules as soon as I learn them. Does anyone have any pull in the AD that could get me a phone interview, I'm working today and won't be available for a sit down until tomorrow morning, at the earliest.
