Cutcliffe with Tee Martin as OC/HC in waiting ...

WRONG. Tee walked into a program that was battered by probation at arguably the best job in college football and arguably the best program and tradition in college sports.

Tee has done well and could rebuilt UT as well.

NOT WRONG. Tee was only one part of the change. The head coach manages the ENTIRE TEAM. NOT JUST ONE PART OF IT.

I have come around to the idea of Tee as HC with some veterans around him like Sanders and Chief. Both are out of work and can help with the rebuild. Cut is too old and not a great recruiter. Give Tee an incentive laden contract and see what he can do. Every coach is a rookie at some point. Is it Tee Time?

Um no...He isn't near ready..Period..He would come here and fail badly and people like yourself would be screaming for his head...That's how it works around here...No let him give head coaching a shot at a place where he can learn the right way ...UT is not a learn as you go kinda job.

Less than zero chance...Have you not been keeping up with the events?..Cutcliffe already turned us down.

Cut said he wasn’t going to work for those in charge. Those are out or being marginalized.

On 104.5 they said he only called plays on 1st and 2nd downs. Passing coordinator called 3rd......

Seems messed up to me.......

Tee has been passing coordinator for years. Since 2013 at USC, so false.

Franklin and Muschamp are horrible terrible dishonest examples you are using. Both were in waiting, but were hired away.....that's completely different...

It actually was working for both schools before they were hired away. Both were great plans and both school had great success doing it, respectfully for each of their expectation level.

Oregon and FSU it worked wonders....

So, I say it works more than it hasn't....

“Dishonest”? What LIE did I propagate? If Franklin was a successful plan at Maryland how come he wasn’t there to assume command when Friedgen sputtered? Because VANDY was too good to pass up? Muschamp was at Texas for 3 seasons and was named HCIW for the LAST ONE. Bolted for the first comparable job. How was that a SUCCESS? I GAVE you the other two examples. Mike Bellotti wanted to retire in the worst way. Kelly has never been a HC at ANY LEVEL! He kept easing more HC duties towards Kelly until he was doing them all by the end of the season. Where was the “waiting” part. Bowden was chasing the all time wins record. FSU didn’t want to fire him or force him to retire before Fisher took over...but they essentially did. Fisher was the de facto coach well before they set Bobby off on the Viking ship! Back in the day Tom Osborne and Barry Switzer bided their time waiting for the keys to the kingdom, but long distance calls were an investment and coaches stayed 30 years EVERYWHERE...so jumping to another school was essentially getting in the back of a long line. Cut isn’t going to accommodate a 2-3 year transition...he doesn’t have to! And Tee ain’t waiting 5 plus...he doesn’t have to! I know what I’m talking about. That’s the HONEST truth. :)

Wrong. Tee calls the plays.

Wrong . Tee does not call the plays . I know this as an intimate fact , regardless of what is said or not said

He is a brilliant recruiter and unbelievable locker room presence ...but needs more time on the coaching front

Calling it now

Old Cut has said he wants to retire from Duke and Tee Martin isn't a good choice either. Remember our goal? To win a championship. Here a tip: Cut or Tee Martin or Randy Sanders would never, even on their best day, beat Saban, Smart, Mullen and if Kiffin is added to the mix, forget it, it's over. Remember our goal and I hope Fulmer remembers it too.

Ok, since everybody is going and throwing out their best guesses here, I'll take a stab: Cutcliffe is going to try and retire at Duke (thank goodness), Tee is not ready for the most pressurized post in college football, Fulmer would rather die than give the job to Lane (my choice), he won't take a chance with Steele (too risky).

Fulmer will go with what he considers the safe choice--he isn't going to risk his fate being similar to Currie's. He'll go with a Norvell type of choice. Fulmer was always pretty conservative and a low risk kind of guy.

Calling it now

I talked to a very respected volnation poster earlier today. He heard a Cut and Tee package deal was a possibility. I was surprised because he is happy at Duke and had already turned us a couple days ago. However, things are different now.
