Cutcliffe out at Duke

If Tennessee is remotely serious about the Arch Manning sweepstakes or pulling in high-end quarterback talent, they to offer him top dollar to be QB coach or an offensive analyst of some sort.

he is retiring.. doubt Cut will be coaching at any level anywhere. Could see him moving back to Knoxville to spend time with Fulmer. Sure they would both attend practices and observe.

Look Cutcliff was a very good OC back many, many years ago. He couldn't recruit very well when he was here as OC and doubt that 40 years later, he has improved in that area.
Yeah, he was terrible at recruiting - couldn't get a QB better than that Peyton guy when he was here, and the best he did when he was coach at Ole Miss was that other Manning. What terrible recruiting. It would really suck if he came here and got a future Super Bowl winner to play here.

I would like to see Cut back in Knoxville as an analyst or in some front office capacity. Always liked the man and I feel he would help tremendously behind the scene.

David Cutcliffe was fired today by Duke.
Bless his heart....Well come on back home Coach Cut, I'm sure CJH can find you something to do like an advisor or something and maybe you know, Get Arch Manning on campus for a visit.

Cutcliffes time has passed, hope he enjoys his retirement.
Hate to burst some peoples bubbles but people get old and their time has passed . They become nothing but dead sinkers and are not really needed any more. Don’t need Cutcliffe coaching here any more , just appreciate him for what he was and wish him well with retirement.

Cutcliffe, Duke Agree on Separation - Duke University

Trooper Taylor, Duke's Associate Head Coach and a member of the staff since 2019, will serve as the interim head coach
Oh my god, I had no ideal that troop was at Duke with Cut ! Am I wrong or is Troop not the reason that Cut went on to become a head ball coach again. He and Troop did not get alone in the articles that were out there. The players loved him and was part of the deception between Cut and Troop....am I wrong ????

Best of luck to David in whatever he pursues.

And we see another former UT coach (Butch Jones) dead last in his conference and his team ranked at 122 of 130 teams, Maybe his smoking of the cigar in Knoxville after the Alabama win (when he did nothing to contribute to that win) is his KARMA. It's funny how it can bite you back bigger and worse down the road.

Offensive analyst would be perfect. I wonder if he wants to move back to Knoxville. I have know him for a long time and would not rule out him coming here.

I have always heard that Cut was interested in the HC job after Kiffy left but wanted to bring his entire staff from Duke and Hamilton rejected that so he pulled his name from consideration. Any real truth to that?

Why are people talking about Arch Manning? He doesn't and will never fit in Heupels offense. Cutcliffe was a great OC for Fulmer and helped win a NC for TN, but that was a long time ago and now it's time for him to retire.
why is he not a fit? Because he is athletic and can run? Because he can throw the ball well? Because he seems to have a good grasp on the game? Just curios

Manning kid is going were their is a roster of 5 star talent . Its easier to look great with 5 stars everywhere just ask Bama and Georgia.

Yep - and Fulmer needs to be brought back as the head coach - and we can get Chavis as the DC - let's see, let's see, maybe Hamilton for AD ?
