the fans like him pretty well; it's just he left UT to coach somewhere else for...more money

that will make most fanbases a little bitter towards you

I have no problem with him leaving for more money. If he would have needed $50 more to leave, I would have given it to him...

Cut does fine with somebody elses players. The knack on him was he can't recruit. He left Ole Miss void of talent and didn't relate well with the boosters. The jury is still out on Cut as a HC. As CPF would say lets look at the body of work........but as a QB coach and OC he is exceptional.
Agree 100%...i do wish Cut the best though. However when he came back...the deal was, he has total control of the offense end of story. Sorry but he cost us some games when he got leads and sat on them...UF anyone?

Personally I'm glad Cuts gone...this issue is soooo much deeper than Cut. It's just time for change. Nothing wrong with that.

One hundred percent right. That is why he could never make it as UT Head coach. With the top Recruiting budget in the nation he would probably push most all of his responsibilities onto his staff.

Cut might not have been a great recruiter in the SEC, but so far he's done pretty well at Duke (we're talking DUKE, mind you).

Duke's '09 class is currently ranked 30 by Scout and 34 by Rivals. Includes a few very highly-regarded recruits such as RB Desmond Scott (also offered by Clemson, UGA, UNC, TENN, others) and OL David Harding (also offered by FSU, GT, SC, others).

He also got to Duke in time to land QB Sean Renfree in the '08 class, currently red-shirting, ranked #10 by Scout, also offered by Arizona St and Oregon St, among others.

I know this is umimpressive compared with the elite programs, and it wouldn't be good enough at UT. But it's pretty darn good considering Duke has been THE laughingstock of BCS football for the past dozen years or so and considering Duke's facilities don't compare with those of the schools they're competing against for recruits.

Although there are other factors to take into consideration-

Fulmer era

Tenn record with Cutcliffe as OC- 80-19-1 .805 33.7ppg

Tenn record w/o Cutcliffe as OC- 62-29 .681 27.2ppg

For one thing, Peyton was the son of an NFL pro QB. He isn't the only one responsible for Peyton's success.

Second, Cutcliffe at Ole Miss and Tennessee the 2nd time didn't have a team finish the season in the top 10.

Second, Cutcliffe had some success at Ole Miss and Tennessee but hasn't won a championship since 98. He does know how to coach QB, no question of that.

Agreed, while i'm not for him as a head coach, cut and norm chow may very well be the greatest qb gurus ever
