Cut to North Carolina?

he hasn't even been mentioned in the rumor mills here in NC....lots of talk about Schiano, Jimbo Fisher, Al Borges, and Butch Davis...those are the names that have been thrown around on the talk shows here.

I work at the News & Record in Greensboro, we cover all the ACC teams pretty hard. He actually was listed as one of the possibilities on the front of our sports page today, along with Gene Chizik (Def. Coordinator @ Texas), Davis, and Paul Johnson @ Navy.

yeah, about an hour after i posted that, they brought his name up on local radio shows here in Charlotte....and the observer here named him a possible candidate as well...but i didn't know that at the time....still can't see him leaving for UNC....

If, and this is an astronomical if, Cut leaves after this season, I believe that Fulmer will not hire an OC for 2007. I think Fulmer would call the plays. He never gave full range to Randy Sanders, so I doubt he would find anyone to trust as OC anytime soon.

Dear Lord, WHO CARES!!!!!????!??!?!?

Why would Cut be attracted to a program spiraling around the drain faster than the Tidy Bowl man?!?

Its possible that Rutgers could win the national title... that a meteor could hit Florida Field... that Ashlee Simpson would decide to abandon her singing career... but it ain't PROBABLE AT ALL.

This thread is making my butt tired.

saying cut leaves what will we do at OC does anyone know anyone out their???? just wondering
The rumor in Birmingham today is that Jimbo Fisher isn't happy at LSU with Les Miles and they were hoping Shula would jettison Rader and hire Fisher as OC.

BTW, David Cutcliffe would have to change his name to become the HC of Alabama to...................Mike Cutcliffe!!!

since we're posting rumors, one going around for the NC job is Mr. Cower from the Steelers. Rumor has it he's bought a house and all in NC. Maybe just a summer home , who knows.

On Hog Calls - Razorback board - Houston Nutt is also rumored to be attractive to UNC.

No way a good SEC coach leaves for UNC and the ACC. Cut or Nutt aren't going anywhere. Now if USC, or Notre Dame come calling, that may a different story.

Cower bought a hose in Raleigh, and his daughters attend NCSU. I have not heard his name mentioned with the UNC job...but he has been mentioned as someone NCSU would go after if Amato got the axe.

I could understand someone not making it in the NFL (i.e. Spurrier) to come back to college ball, but a successful coach, I just can't see. (other than family I guess....)

i don't know how realistic it really is that Cower would head to NCSU as HC...but the fact that he bought a house there, and it's his place of residence in the off season, and his daughters attend the school....it's enough to start the rumor. nothing has/will come of it until/unless amato is gone at season's end. Which could happen should UNC beat NCSU....UNC and Bunting have beaten NCSU the past couple of years too....

I don't think UT can pay Cutcliffe enough money to keep him as an OC. Head coaches make 850K+. No way can UT offer that kind of salary for an OC.

If he is offered the UNC he most likely will take it. Thats the real question.

When he was fired from Ole Miss he wasn't considered for any other HC positions that I remember. I think it may take another year of success at UT before he is given another opportunity as a HC. Cutcliffe did ok as the Ole Miss HC, but he didn't set the world on fire. I think thats still in the back of a lot of peoples mind.

Everyone knows Cutcliffe is a good QB and OC but there is more to being a HC. He mostly was a disappointment at recruiting. Of course most HC have trouble recruiting at Ole Miss.

the only point of contention i would make there is that alot of people would argue/agree that Ole Miss made a huge mistake in firing Cut in the first place...i know i've heard several meida types state that this year...it depends on the opinion of the people making that decision at whatever school is entertaining the idea of Cut as a HC.
