He can put his staff together during the dead period AND it would send a foul message to Duke fans if they had to watch THIER head coach calling plays for Tennessee in a bowl game. Every Vol fan here would be pissed if an incoming UTK coach pulled that crap, well maybe for Urb or Pete I could deal with it.

He will wait till after the bowl game for the simple fact that some people are going to lose their jobs then. Plus, I believe he thinks he owes it to us since he ditched us in the 98' NCG. Even if he goes, he won't assemble a coaching staff in one week or probably even two. If he waits he will have more to choose from with firings sure to come after the bowl games.

I dont think there is a chance of Cut leaving UT for the worst college football coaching job in the nation...but i have been wrong once before.

I heard that Duke is going to allow special admits for football as part of the effort to make the team competitive. A $50k per year education might be a selling point.

I went to grad school at Duke and taught several courses while I was there, and I got the impression that they were already doing this. Most of the football players I taught weren't the sharpest tools in the shed.

the scary part is the duke players are the smart ones in college football. those admitted to the florida states of the world are barely literate.

Who are you kidding? I'm sure that there are illiterate football players in many top programs.

Just to make it easier...
Tennessee assistant head coach David Cutcliffe will be named football coach at Duke, sources with knowledge of the situation said Friday.

It is expected that Cutcliffe will be introduced as the Blue Devils' coach Friday or Saturday and will remain with Tennessee through the Volunteers' bowl game.

Citing sources in the Vols program, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported on its Web site early Friday that Cutcliffe was expected to accept the post.

At media day before the Vols' Outback Bowl matchup with Wisconsin, Cutcliffe said he had not been offered the job at Duke. He declined to take any questions about the vacancy, but acknowledged he interviewed for the job.

One other thing to consider about Cut sticking around for the bowl game is it denies us ANY accountability for a poor performance. If the team gets stomped then all the blame falls at the feet of the departed coach(es).
