Has anyone really had a custom made suit? Not a fitted suit, but a custom made. I know I haven't. I have about a $400 dollar fitted Italian suit from Men's Warhouse. Still looks good. Speakng of, I need to go have it taken in some.

Brooks Brothers suits are made in the US and are top of the line. They are the oldest men's retailer in the US. Kennedy, Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, etc. wore BB.

Off the rack, a great Saxxon wool suit (best off the rack wool) is around $1200. If you want custom, you are looking at more.

Also, Brooks Brothers uses top of the line Italian wool from Lora Piana, among others.

If you are on mobile, Newt, a recap:

At his second inauguration, Abraham Lincoln wore a magnificent coat specially crafted for him by Brooks Brothers. Hand stitched into the coat's lining was an intricate design featuring an eagle and the inscription, "One Country, One Destiny." Sadly, it was also the coat Lincoln was wearing when he was assassinated at Ford's Theater.

Ulysses S. Grant began his association with Brooks Brothers during the Civil War, when he ordered tailored uniforms for the Union officers.

John F. Kennedy popularized Brooks Brothers' fashionable two-button suit when he wore it at his inauguration.

Cary Grant, Gary Cooper, Douglas Fairbanks, Sr., Rudolph Valentino, Errol Flynn, Rudy Vallee and John Barrymore were some of the best-dressed men of their time, and all were Brooks Brothers customers.

Clark Gable, splendidly proportioned with a 44-inch chest and 32-inch waist, had his suits made to order at Brooks Brothers. He was generally unable to wear ready-made clothing, except for Brooks Brothers button-down Polo collar shirts.

Haha pushing it hard. I've been into a few stores. I'll definitely look into it, thanks.

Seriously, all mine are custom made. Not fitted. They measured me and made the suits from material. I got a few made in san diego that come with a story I won't share in here.

I love Brooks Brothers, their non irons are the best oxfords
made, especially for bachelors who hate ironing as do I.. Plus lifetime guarantee. Their suits are stellar.

Couple of things. As mentioned before, Oxxford is probably the best bespoke tailor in the country but you cant even look at a suit for a grand.

Not all of Brooks Brothers suits are made in the US. Most are still made in Italy and while they are good suits, they are nowhere near the top of the line.

To the OP, if you want a good bespoke suit, you're going to have to spend more than $1K. That's just the way it is. You could spend less bet you are just wasting your money.

Your best bet it to go "made to measure". It's not fully bespoke but it is not off the rack either, its right in the middle. Brooks Brothers has MTM events, this is probably your best bet if you want to stay local but but it's still going to be more than a grand. If you are in NYC anytime soon there are plenty of tailors there that do MTM.

Also, no suit is going to last a lifetime, styles change too much.

And the styles look like it too. Great choice for an accounting convention or if you are teaching Sunday school.

Yes and no, it all depends on who you go too. You can do better with a grand in NYC than you can anywhere else in the US.

Guess you just have to do your homework, I was just at the Brooks Brothers at Liberty Plaza in lower Manhattan last month and the prices where remarkably higher than cool springs and that seemed to be the case at most of the retail/clothing outfitters in NYC

Not really, all depends on what fit you get. I like the slim fit opposed to the classic.. Less nerdish, but I also like the classic look

You know the Cool Springs store is closing... Apple store is going in that spot and the one next to it.

No I didn't realize that.. It is kind of in a bad location, Brooks and Brothers clientele usually go up the road to the Green Hills location. When does it close? Good for apple though they need a bigger area

The brooks brothers store in cool springs was a brooks brothers 346 store, basically it was an outlet store. That stuff was garbage. It wasn't the same as a regular BB.

I'm sorry, but you are wrong. They are made in the US with fabric milled in Italy. I know.
