Does anyone have any actual game pictures of Kurt Watson? He's the only football player to do anything out of my hometown.

I think he is just about the only guy to ever do anything out of crossville. I'm a fellow native crossvillian as well. Seems I remember coming across pics/vid of him somewhere. Probably on here somewhere in the vast abyss that is volnation.

My Dad said my uncle and their cousins played with him. They said it was some of if not the best teams that played for CCHS.

For me, Curt's greatest run was the winning TD in the 1971 Liberty Bowl - maye the only time in his career he cut back to elude a tackler... This website has a video of the run:

I think my dad played high school football with Curt Watson. He might have been a year or two before or after, but I think they played together.

celebration in the video after the touchdown...that same celebration today threatens to call back the TD. Now that is just stupid, I don't care who you are. Celebrations are part of success in sports. That video captures the beauty of sports/football/team. And today's rules deny the players and the fans of that joy. STUPID rule.

He was a great FB , all SEC, and if my numbers are right rushed for over 3,000 yards. He was a Blue Angel and someone many kids today including many on this board should look up to. We were in a wedding together and drove from Knoxville in Curt's corvette that I believe was given to him by the city of crossville when he graduated from HS. Curt hope you are well! Perge

I used to live in Smithville, Tn and I had the pleasure of watching the Crossville High vs. Cookeville High
game many years ago. It was played at Crossville and was one great football game.

Crossville's leading player was Curt Watson while Cookeville boasted the duo of Watson and Mack Brown. In time, both Browns became Division One coaches. Of course Curt went on to star at TN and the Brown brothers both went to Vandy.

I'm a CCHS graduate also. I remember listening to the Tobacco Bowl for the state championship. If memory serves me: QB was C.W. Pemberton (neighbor) and the HB was Lane Tollett. Probably more talent on that team than Crossville has seen collectively in the 40 years since.

Great, great running back and pilot. Met him when he was flying with the Blue Angels back in the 1980's-1990's. He was not only an Aviator but the "best of the best".

Whoa now! I am Jet alum and my 2003 team was pretty talented... Just probably not that talented. Mr. Watson was well berfore my time, but like some others, I saw him fly with the Blue Angels in Pensacola I think.

I have heard great things about him and would love to see some highlights.
