Why do we keep crediting him with the Manning's success? They would have been successful under any coach, or even no coach. Their father and relentless hard work should get all the credit.

I don't know. Maybe because Manning himself constantly praises him for helping him become the QB that he is today. Just a hunch.

the fact that the original poster even slightly suggested that Randall Cobb (of alcoa high) is being recruited as a "mobile QB" makes me wonder the age of the person behind the mask. He's CLEARLY not going to play QB in college.

Actually, they think there is a possibility he does play QB. A possibility. If he does not grow then, no, he will not play QB. But there assumption is that he still has some growing to do. His father is much larger than Randall and he is a young senior. If he does not grow, then he is athletic enough to find another spot on the roster.

Clearly? He is definietly going to get some looks at QB. More than likely, not here (Cutcliffe has no use for him behind center), but Ky will give him a chance.

Kentucky will get a chance to watch him but not coach him. Everything lately points to him changing him commitment to UT. Probably as early as next week.

Tony Basillio asked him if Tennessee picked up the phone and gave him a call, if he would reconsider going to Knoxville. He said that he and his father had been in discussions with Cutcliffe for a while and Cutcliffe was adamant about not using the spread or running any kind of offense that would fit his abilities as a mobile/dual threat quarterback. Said Cutcliffe was confident that his offense works and he didn't see any need to change.

Which makes you ask, why are they going after Pryor and Randall Cobb? Cutcliffe is gonna ruin those two guys and try to make them a bunch of stiffs, that would be pitiful and I would feel sorry for those kids. Their talents would be wasted here under Cutty. :cray:

So any of us (myself included, unfortunately) that may have thought that Cutty might see the light and change his offensive philosophy, we may be holding our breaths for a long, long time.

Pryor is smart. He has said that he does not want to run the spread. He wants to play in the NFL not the CFL. The only reason we are in on TP is DC.

Why isn't the spread run in the NFL? Because the pro style is superior.

Oh, you mean we shouldnt change away from our offense that is modeled after NFL offenses and introduce an offense that not one single NFL team has decided to use? But why not?

Our offensive scheme is good enough to win big time at the college level. The introduction of the spread offense is not "the answer." We have to execute and get better athletes. That is the answer. But the spread is hip and in-style so some of you will continue to ask to change to something that doesnt win championships and isnt used in the NFL.

and twice on Saturday. Give me smashmouth, make 'em hurt getting back up every time.

It was great to see our D hitting like that. Made the loss a lot more bearable.

The spread offense is a fad. a handful of good DC's are going to figure it out how to stop it and it will be a thing of the past.

It's really not all it's cracked up to be. Look at Timmy's numbers than look at Florida's record.

Kind of funny when UF had to run a watered-down version they won a national championship.........

Do not think so, our system is flexable the last dual threat QB to go all season was T Martin and we all know what he did and guess who was his coach. Coach Cut takes the abilities of a QB and fits it into a system where there are 10 other players. Was P. M. a dual threat how about Casey, talent comes as is the dual threar QB's that have come here have been used as such. If you have a QB who has not been who is he?

I would echo the low interest in the Spread offense. I watched Mizzou use it this year and I hated it. It is asymetrical and good if you are a small fast team. Chase Daniels never once got under center for a sneak TD or a first down plunge by the tail back and that deficiency cost them dearly in the game with OU.

It can be defensed, but not in the traditional sense. There is so much movement and gap alignment that the DC has to rely on speed and area positioning discipline. If that isn't right, the DC is always leaving some area uncovered by definition. Everybody has to stay at home and win the individual match ups. There isn't much help available for the weak link.

Plus there is no running game to defend. Nine in the box is a total waste of time. Your backers have to react to the occasional run, and the corners or a safety has to come up for the end around. It is a total big play offense and that's what the average fan loves about it. It absolutely wears your defense out because it scores too fast to give them a rest. 28 seconds, 3 plays and the defense is back on the field.

No smash mouth rough'm up anything.
