I'm willing to give him one more shot. Nail this hire like your job depends on it John

DD I'm afraid Currie is now a lame duck and looks like a fool, but he's making a coaching decision at UT?

Does being a lame duck AD bid for success, I think not, fire Currie immediately and put a Tennessee guy in as AD:popcorn:

The biggest issue I have with his letter was saying “the” Ohio State with a capital t.

Sounded like a traitor from that point on. Jmo

"The" is actually part of the proper name of the university. It's even on their seal. Perhaps he was just calling it what it is.

This is where we, the fan base, are failing. We keep expecting bad Athletic Directors to make good hires, and it just is not going to happen. Until the university hires with competency in mind, the AD will continue to make terrible coaching hires. John Currie is bad at his job. Davenport leaving him in control of this search is the biggest mistake of her career, and will probably see her fired even before Currie is ultimately let go.

Bearded, the fans can see the problem in the administration, but the administration can't see the forrest for the trees......they are blind:sad:

This all goes back to the BoT. DiPietro, Davenport, Currie is the chain of failure that led to this botched coaching hire, partially because of the influence that the Haslam machine has been allowed to exert undue control over the BoT with Bill Haslam as the governor, and Jim Haslam as a booster, but ultimately on the BoT's overall failure as a governing body when it comes to hiring administrators.

Did Kiffin cover up child rape too? The two aren't comparable.

I wasn't ware Schiano had covered up child rape. I was aware that ,while "under oath", a fellow coach seeking immunity, and who was directly involved in covering up child rape, pointed a finger at Shiano and another coach. Who both deny the conversation ever happened. Did it or didn't it? We'll never know. But, he was cleared. And apparently this double hearsay thing means that someone else told McQueary that they told them that 25 years ago. I understand the shadow cast cause he was there, and "how could he not know." But, then again, my sister has been an alcoholic, gambling addict, and habitual cheater for 20 years, and the entire family, who "should have known" had not one single clue.

Put the shoe on the other foot. If you were falsely accused "under oath" of covering up child rapeby someone who was told that by someone else, and did not do it, and were cleared, how would you like to carry that with you every where you go cause people always judge you and say "but he was accused under oath." Like that really means squat without evidence and conviction.

And that has zilch to do with whether he should or shouldn't have been hired. I wouldn't have been excited about the hire. I cheer for the team anyway. And coaches are always a crap shoot. Can win big at one school and flop at another. It's all about fit and the admin you work for.

Currie made the biggest boo-boo in the history of Vol athletics.

Instead of a mea culpa, he puts out a letter that tries to justify his incompetence (being Jimmy's toadie).

So, we are supposed to let the decision for the next candidate remain in his hands? While he may consider us that stupid, my guess is that he is wrong. Where does the administration stand?
