"Neither chancellor Jimmy Cheek nor his wife ever made a UT donor cry, as far as I know. There are no Persian rugs or gas grills to remember him by. And he lasted more years than Gilley, Shumaker and Petersen combined."
Who can forget Cheeks "Booger Gate" scandal?
With all due respect, Greg Schiano has FAR MORE credibility as a coach outside of this state than Jeremy Pruitt.
Currie (and Haslam, and much of the administration) underestimated the degree to which the fans would be ticked off at a Schiano hire. Totally tone deaf. That's why he said we were "wacko."
When the Twitter mob assembled after the hire, I'm sure Currie's overriding thought was "Geez people, why do you care about this so much?" Which is really funny, because crazy people caring a lot about football is (or was) his livelihood.

Now, all that being said, I like the Pruitt hire ok for right now. Going to reserve judgement though until he actually coaches for a few games

Not that I personally think Schiano could've been the answer as coach but are people up in arms because an accusation was made against Schiano that he knew.(sorry had to end the sentence there) Sandusky was doing gross calf raises with the boys in the shower. If I remember it was casually said once like "even coach X and coach Schiano knew". Should that ruin peoples careers when so many important people looked at it and thought it was a "nothing burger" or are these continued liberal talking points of political corrective and trying to end people careers? I know UT had just gotten past the Title IX lawsuit so it that the driving force behind the criticism? Just asking.

He's a DC at a top program, albeit under Meyer who hasn't seemed to worried about the line so much in the past. So I wouldn't say he was ruined from it.
The PSU cloud was not brought back up as far as his employment as a Head Coach until UT. Its interesting that from 2014 to the present he hasn't been snatched up to lead a program and evidently UT is the only major school to really try.
He has more issues than just PSU.
