Currie Releases Statement

Im outta touch but what news media said shiano was the leading candidate for our school? Is this for real? I dont have twitter. I cant believe this joker thinks we cant see through this garbage

I understand being upset with his first choice. I also understand that brings his judgment and competence into question. I even understand that he was not the most popular hire to begin with.

But that doesn't mean he can't learn quickly from his mistake and make a much better hire, and the good news is, this is still very possible.

I personally am willing to give him a second chance. Firing him now is insane, and we all know Davenport isn't going to do that anyway. She hired him over a much more popular candidate (Blackburn...or at any rate I'm told he was popular).

So we are stuck with Currie. Might as well hope his next choice is a winner.

Hell...it can't be worse than Schiano, can it?

So take a deep breath. We have not lost the coaching search yet. Not by a long shot.

You do know he ran off Frank Martin at KSU. The guy who just took the USC Gamecocks to the Final Four. I repeat, he ran off a coach that took South Carolina...the historic doormat of SEC Basketball...to the Final Four! His judgement has been observed, tried, and found totally inept.

Also tried to set up a situation where Bill Snyder either quit or be fired at the end of this year. I'm sorry but you guys are in trouble. He is a weasel plain and simple. He will piss off 99.99% of the fan base just to kiss big money ass. Being a K-State fan was miserable with him around. Wait until he starts rolling out his sportsmanship bs and starts telling you guys how to act at athletic events.

I’m not sure it will get to that. Be surprised if he has a job come the weekend.

Screw Davenport and Currie, after all she hired this joke of an AD

I guarantee you that Currie is a dead duck.....just wait and see.......incompetence abounds at UT and makes me sick.

All the Tennessee fans that support the Vols have had enough of this shat show on the hill, it's embarrassing to all Vol fans:machgun:

Currie wasn't hired by Davenport. He was installed by Haslam for the purpose of what we witnessed yesterday.

I really don't know what Tennessee does.

He is eventually going to have to resign. He has to. There's no way he can run the department after this.

But, you can't fire him now and not have the new athletic director make the hire or be any kind of attractive to a coach not knowing what he's walking into. Who takes the job with an athletic director vacancy.

I wouldn't wish this on FSU.

Well, maybe FSU

We've got two quite capable individuals to fill in while the coaching hire is made.

Now even Ainge is saying Manning ok'd this

That's the word and at one time Peyton took to cussing toward Schiano. One player said it stunned him to hear Peyton using foul lanquage. Neverthe less Hyams has said Peyton knew this hire was gonna happen and called other VFL's wanting them on board.

Everybody send a letter to get rid of Currie! My request was he appoint Fulmer as acting AD and coaching responsibilities until Fulmer can oversee the hiring of a proven coach that will be successful in the SEC not big 10 or big 12.

Fill out the petition on change.org and that will help us get rid of Currie

This is a deliberate attempt to embarrass the Vol fans. It is also filled with half truths. Relying on Freeh's report which came out in 2012 when McQueary's GJ testimony occurred in 2015 is deliberately deceptive. And of course Schiano would not be prosecuted based on hearsay evidence--it doesn't meet legal standards. Lack of prosecution doesn't equate to exoneration! It just means that Schiano will never be prosecuted. An dconferring with our colleagues like Urban Meyer? Are you freaking kidding me? Did Urbie throw in a good word for Aaron Hernandez while he was at it. For John Currie to praise Schiano as a fine upstanding person stands in contrast to his known personality. You can literally find articles labeling him as an a-hole in the article title, for God's sake! John Currie created this drama by picking a dubious candidate, one who the most cursory research into UT fans' attitudes would have predicted this reaction. He has further embarrassed the University with this smarmy, self-serving FU to the entire fan base. What a weasel.

Here's my thoughts from other thread. Miss please merge. Didn't see this one.
...
Three things in Currie's written statement are troubling: <please read his letter first>

#1 "A" leading candidate is purposefully deceitful ...
He says GS was "a" leading candidate. No, he was far and away "THE" leading candidate for the job. These two things are almost night and day in reality. Currie wants this to look like GS was just part of an elite coaching group that he was choosing from. This is completely different from the truth. GS was THE guy for quite some time (Bahamas anyone?). He had his guy. Currie was in Ohio doing the deal before the wheels came off. He didn't say this.
John Currie is PURPOSEFULLY deceiving the fanbase.

#2 Sets up a "straw man" concerning
"SanduskySchiano"...
While the vetting issues Currie mentions are certainly of value. He PURPOSEFULLY ignores the giant elephant in the room. What about the sworn under oath statement from Mike McQeary about GS seeing Sandusky raping a child also then remaining neutral about it? THIS IS THE KEY CONCERN. Everyone who cares to know understands this. So does Currie. But instead he goes to the positive vetting results only and uses those for PROOF of due diligence. Currie is simply setting up a straw man argument to tear down in order to appear circumspect. He's not circumspect. That's why riots happened in the streets. Currie is hiding from this reality and is again deceiving the fanbase he writes to.

#3 The Theme is I Know Better than You ...
The entire theme of this letter is "I know better than you". It is not "I made a huge error in judgement". It is not "I brought unimaginable negativity to my university and this program". It is not "I didn't take even the minimum amount of research of the fanbase to find that this was a terrible decision". It is not ”I am getting my marching orders from somewhere besides those who have the interests of our football program as #1". Nope. It's just a smackdown to the uninformed people who pay his exorbitant salary. Worse still is the erroneous logic that says ”these fans are foolish" but I'm going to undo my excellent decision and follow their "foolishness". This is Currie style leadership!

John Currie should resign immediately as Athletic Director of the University of Tennessee, or be fired with cause.
