Currie on 104.5

not to take sides, and not sure where this went off the rails, but it's not like there weren't reputable people in the media reporting on both sides of the FUlmer/Blackburn deal. turns out they weren't right, obviously....but, at least imo, it got well past "rumor"....especially considering who some of those folks' sources were. you even had a member of the BOT commenting on this deal....

which again, leads us back to the bigger issue...you had fans and media alike prognosticating on this issue, and you had reputable media folks with reputable sources spouting a lot of this stuff....

all could have been avoided with some better decision making, and some clarity in the athletic department as a whole.

the who said what only matters in that they were even in position to say anything in the first place.

It's just shameful garbage all over the place. Grown ass people talking about this person said this about that person blah blah blah. I'll judge him on the job he does. If I'm wrong and he fails he'll get replaced. End.

So the answer is yes. Cool. One less thing for you.

Maybe addition by subtraction for the both.

To your post above. Yes, there is poor information being passed daily. Some I'm even sure with a purpose. There is also good legit information out there as well. I don't have to like it for it to be right. And if I dont, it doesn't make it garbage.

He's hired, hopefully he does a solid job.

That's fair, & really, I agree. But my issue is less with Currie, more with the how the whole thing was allowed to play out--the above mentioned "garbage". It didn't have to be that way.

Tennessee is the most divided fan base in the SEC...by far. Hell, if we were all happy, a bunch would get pissed off for hell of it.

I heard the interview. If he'd said he reached out to Fulmer with no response, it would make Fulmer look bad. Instead he said nothing. If Fulmer is pissed at anyone about the AD thing, it should be the idiots who led him believe he had a chance at the job.

Totally agree. Of course we all don't know if there is truth to this or if it was just media talk.

I have a feeling this hire is going to go in the wrong direction, seems some ground had been made up with Fulmer and past VFL's. It's just hard to ever see Fulmer chummy chummy with the one of the guys who helped influence some boosters with firing him, plus helping raise the money to pay him out.

Oh Hamilton signed the papers, but Currie was pushing for it as early as 2005.

Did you never hear how he went to some boosters after the Note Dame loss to see if there was any interest in buying out Fulmer's contract?

There wasn't, but Fulmer found out because they told him.

There's real bad blood between those two.

Then I'm a big Currie fan then!!! Along with the majority of fans I wanted Fulmer gone after the '05 season!!

Good for him!

We should put up a statue of Currie for being the architect of firing that fat, tub of lard, lazy, two bit egomaniac backstabbing politician !!! Fulmer couldn't coach a lick without David Cutcliffe on his staff !!!

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Currie for ridding us of that problem !!!

Where we screwed up in restoring our program was in the subsequent hires after Fulmer, not getting rid of Fulmer.

Get the **** out of here!!!!!!
