I missed the first part, but he hedged like crazy when asked if he'd reached out to Fulmer. The crew spent the next couple of segments criticizing him. Withrow especially laid in.

Yeah, Currie refused to answer yes or no when asked if spoken with Fulmer. If UT doesn't start get back to the SECCG, the supporters will be divided. Davenport made a bold decision with this hire that may haunt her.

They stabbed Fulmer in the back by hiring the architect of his firing.

Who would blame Fulmer if he never had a conversation with the new AD?

Regardless of your thoughts on if Fulmer should have been hired as AD or should have been retained or fired as coach, Currie's answer was a slap in the face to a UT legend and our fan base.

Davenport may catch some flack over it but she wasn't pulling the strings.

Tennessee is the most divided fan base in the SEC...by far. Hell, if we were all happy, a bunch would get pissed off for hell of it.

I heard the interview. If he'd said he reached out to Fulmer with no response, it would make Fulmer look bad. Instead he said nothing. If Fulmer is pissed at anyone about the AD thing, it should be the idiots who led him believe he had a chance at the job.

Tenn has a decent football team. Tenn has 2 decent basketball teams. Tenn has a super softball team. now in 3 years when all these coaches are fired and big 12 coaches are hired and tenn is set back another 10 years how many of you gonna say currie was a good hire.

Say what?! Get set back from having "decent" teams in most financially important sports? I did not know our goal was just to be "decent".

Currie was brought in to raise funds and stack cash for the school through the AD. We all better pray he never has to hire a new football coach. He will ignore the big name good coaches and go hard for the cheapest "he's done alright at his previous jobs" coach.

Mark my words, all his moves he will make will only be about building the biggest reserve fund and he won't care about us competing for even an East title let alone an SEC or National Title.

7-6 will be fine with him every year as that will allow him to say he's running a winning program.

Well, if he's all about nothing more than stacking cash through the AD. Then, he has a pretty good example of how to stack cash by looking at that program right down the center of the State below our southern border. I can buy into that kinda cash stackin'.

Oh Hamilton signed the papers, but Currie was pushing for it as early as 2005.

Did you never hear how he went to some boosters after the Note Dame loss to see if there was any interest in buying out Fulmer's contract?

There wasn't, but Fulmer found out because they told him.

There's real bad blood between those two.

You're joking, right? Listening to Currie evade the guys at 104.5 regarding Phil Fulmer was discomfiting. Don't know the "real" story (like you insiders), but UT's new AD refused to respond to questions. :ermm:

Decent, underachieving football team; .500 men's bball team who couldn't get an NIT bid, let alone one from the NCAA; Lady Vols bball team has taken a major fall from where they once were; baseball team is a mess.

I love the softball team, but if that's who we're hanging our hats on it, the situation is worse than we thought.

Btw, its highly unlikely I'm ever gonna say Currie was a good hire no matter what happens....he's the last guy I want hiring a UT coach of any kind. That said, our athletic department is a mess as defined by the quality of our team sports and something's gotta give.
