Currie = oblivious

Take this for what it's worth, from someone I trust:

John Currie is infuriated at the fanbase and how they've been harassing him over canning this charlatan masquerading as a head football coach. He's one of these people that are more than well aware of what's going on and always wants to be viewed in the best possible light. And he's a grade A, world class asskisser to those that are in higher positions than him. He thought, spectacularly incorrectly, that [trumpet blower] would at least win enough games to keep it from going totally off the rails. Even he can't believe how bad this is playing out.

But, at the same time, he is more agitated at the UT fans and is keeping [trumpet blower] as a big middle finger to the fanbase. He wants the fans to know HE'S the boss. And no one is going to tell him what to do.

So, Jones will not be fired this week, or next week, or the week after that. Currie will can [trumpet blower] following the season and not one second before. No one is going to tell King Currie what to do (except the few that his head is buried up their asses).

This has nothing to do with who will be the next coach. It's more of a Currie power trip and big middle finger to the fanbase and something that shows them, "who the real boss is around here."

I agree there are many sides to the buyout argument, which goes down significantly should we be eliminated from Bowl contention. It's an easier sell for that amount versus the damage it does keeping him around a few more weeks. That being said, I want him gone now. We've suffered enough.

maneuvering the political/financial roadcourse is tough on Mr Currie, but, I'm more concerned about how this will continue to kill our recruiting class...timing is everything...:whistling:

If this is even remotely true then there needs to be some real info around this approach brought to the media. Period. The fans of UT sports fund ALL of this and while a firm handed AD is certainly a commodity, he should also realize, that in a way, we are his customers. You don’t piss of your customers.

Please circle the appropriate answer

1) Somebody who has had face to face conversations and this is what Currie specifically said.
2) Somebody who heard from a friend of a friend that he said this
3) Somebody that knew him in college and figures this is what he would say
4) Some other poster on some message board or call in show said this.
5) Just made up stuff.

There is nothing in his contract that makes his buyout less if we miss a bowl game.

Does he even care?

Do you know how stupid that post is? Do you think Currie isn't acutely aware of this situation? Do you really think he got to a level of an AD at one of the flagship universities in the country by being stupid? The thought....and maybe you didn't really put much thought into the post....that Currie doesn't care because he's not making a change fast enough to suit you or the rest of the teens sitting in their dorm rooms or moms basement is simply stupid. No one on this or any other message board knows the details of this situation better than Currie. All this gnashing of teeth is silly. Just support the players and let this thing play out. Even if UF fires Mac, I doubt you see them get their new coach until the season ends. Just the way it's going to go down.

I will choose #5. Saying Currie will keep Butch to send a message to the fanbase that he is The Boss is the silliest thing I have read yet.

Before he fires him, I hope Currie has a list of competent coaches to replace him. With the early signing day, you really can't go about this just to please angry fans. But you need to give recruits who really want to be here someone they can see as their future coach.

And I still hope Butch takes Bob Kesling and John Adams with him. Until they go, I will give Butch time to help his friends pack.

I understand that it seems pretty unbelievable. I've been here a long time and don't throw out baseless speculation. FWIW I hope I'm wrong because that would be the dumbest thing Currie could do.

If he thinks he's the boss, he isn't too bright. The fans are the ones who buy tickets, concessions, apparel, etc. The fans have more power than he will ever have because we're the ones who shell out the $$$. We just have to use that power. It may be too little too late this season since the tix are already sold, but 40k showing up for the Southern Miss game would send a message. LSU taking over Neyland would send a message. I hate to have to wish for those things to happen, but it's the only way that Currie and his superiors (namely the Haslams) will wake up.

6. It’s becone patently obvious by his inaction on the matter of Butch Jones.

I have no reason not to believe you. Trust but Verify is my motto. You just said that you "Hope you're wrong" There is no possible way for you to be wrong if you are telling the truth. Because you said that a trusted source told you this. I asked which of the 5 answers was correct. You didn't answer. *shrug*
