Currie is out!!!

Sources also indicated that Currie used a third party to tell Schiano he would be pulling out of the deal, hours after signing the pact and also less than 24 hours after Currie was informed, per sources, of Schiano’s past at Penn State. That past, and his reportedly having knowledge of Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky acting inappropriately with young boys while doing nothing to prevent it or bring it to anyone’s attention, is the trigger which led to the unprecedented social media backlash against the decision by Tennessee fans and media members which ultimately prevented Schiano’s hiring in a historic showing of, in a sense, college football democracy. Currie choosing to move forward with Schiano as a candidate and still electing to sign the M.O.U. on behalf of Tennessee is a decision he will one day have to answer for.

This is almost unbelievable. But, after yesterday, it makes sense. Currie said he was going to do it his way, now he has to answer for it.

i dont want schiano as much as anyone else but the fact is there's no proof the guy covered up for sandusky. just one word against the other. obviously it was a dumb idea to hire schiano but chicken currie isn't going to be ran out of town over wanting to hire him, key word here is "wanting". There was no contract signed and apparently wasnt only currie pushing it, davenport did as well. so fire currie, davenport, fulmer, and the entire board if you want change.

the fact that his name is even in the sandusky situation is enough for me.

You are clueless. In fact your are a moron. Michigan will win 9 games this year running a pro-style offense and be pre-season top 10 next year with it.

Phil didn't screw-up TN football, Mike Hamilton and the Haslams did. Hiring Derek Dooley screwed-up TN football.

Oklahoma, Bama, Georgia, Ohio State, and Wisconsin.. just to name a few schools, have former players and/or coaches as AD's.

But you are smart, let's hire another administrator like John Currie that has no true ties to TN or knows how a successful football program operates to lead TN athletics.. pure genius boy, pure genius

Also, Majors got himself fired by blowing 2 national titles, drinking too much, and rubbing everyone the wrong way.
I agree with most of what you said, but Currie does have ties to UT. A Master's of Science in Sport Mgmt. He is an alum.

The problem with all this, is it appears that Tennessee is trying to get out of an agreement (buyer's remorse) similar to Florida. Maybe parties will work it out but either way its at least a little dent in the fender.

No contract, no problem.A MOU is non-binding.

Just goes to show what douches SchiaNO and Currie really are.

I think these message boards and sources have burned some bridges over the last few weeks. Jon Gruden board should be disbanded and members be placed on probation, including myself. However, it has been fun and now we wait for our mediocre hire from some FCS team.

If going the FCS route Will Healy is waiting....biggest turn around in college football

It's about time to go down to Clemson and offer Venables 7 mil for 7 years for a total of 50 mil. It's the only respectable hire left. Butch cost us 30 mil plus for 5 years including the buyout.

Conredge is a good man.

TOO BAD UTAD is against good men with common sense and a deep love and understanding of what it means to bleed orange.

All of us are passionate Vol fans who have opinions, but think most normal people have common sense. When things go bad, you fall back on your core values...steadying influence. So, question is, will we do this, or continue to have disconnected arrogance?

There is always a good solution to a problem if your values are in check and you search deep enough for the right answer. There's a better answer than what we got yesterday...Les Miles, Memphis coach, etc, etc...

Someone going to have to take over, b/c Curries in a padded room somewhere with a straight jacket on.

Just got it from a good source. Fulmer has the support of admin and boosters to take over immediately.

Whatever Vicky. But since the FBI just got involved in basketball corruption, I am wondering how many laws got violated this weekend. Better lawyer up.

LOL Vicky Also, that AV is just a bright spot in a dark universe. Possibly the only reason to come here anymore.
