Currie is out!!!

Just got it from a good source. Fulmer has the support of admin and boosters to take over immediately.

currie is not going to be fired. this is utter nonsense. bad judgement but not a fireable situation. just be happy schiano isnt coming and move along.

It's absolutely possible he gets fired with his latest bad publicity. But now it's a new level type of horrible bad publicity that gets guys fired. Could see Blackburn or Fulmer replacing Currie's dumba$$.

My source at the university (yeah, I know, another anonymous source) doesn't work for the athletic department, but works for another department that interfaces with athletics.

Word is, the decision to release Currie has already been made.

The feeling among the administration is that the reason he kept the coaching search so close to the vest, was so that he could get Schiano (who was already an unpopular choice among the handful of insiders who actually knew) hired on before anybody could stop him.

Reid Sigmon, who's the #2 in the athletic department, will be stepping in as interim AD. But since he's seen as a Currie yes-man, he won't be charged with the coaching search. Don't know who will be in charge of it now, though.

Since he was really considering hiring Greg Schiano and his baggage he should be fired. John Currie alone caused a social media uprising and actual protests.

Reading this and then reading the OP again it sounds like Fulmer may have been asked to step in.....and run the coaching search.

When will this happen

No idea. I'm not sure how long those things usually take from decision to announcement, even in the best of times.

Apparently it's absolute chaos over there right now. Just a few hours ago, every involved department was all-hands-on-deck prepping for a coach introduction. Now everybody's trying to figure out what's next.

If he's being told what to do by Haslam then he's absolutely the fall guy. I do believe Haslam is behind it with his apparent man crush on Schiano. He can hire him at Cleveland but stay the hell out of Knoxville. It's a PR nightmare.

If your statements are true that would imply also that the administration that hired Currie, all the title labels from Chancellor on down is in bed with this hypocrisy of boosters paying the bills so they run the show. How far does this go?

This all day long and twice on Sunday. Currie is a yes man and Haslam is the one calling the shots. Very sad situation that we have a loser controlling UT athletics. Guy can't even get a trade right for that loser QB McCarron by sending a simple fax and we expect a good coach at UT? Gimme a break.

I can't believe we are in this position. I finally had some hope when Butch was fired. "Enjoyed" 2 weeks of optimism waiting for a big new hire. Could it possibly be Gruden? Would I be ok with Mullen? Laughing over the "Bring home Kiffin" remarks. After getting tanked last night at home to Vandy we started hearing of a possible announcement today. Sure enough...things started leaking. How did we get to where Schiano was on the verge of being announced? Quite possibly the only man that could have brought this fanbase to do what it did. Would we have revolted over Mullen? Kiffin? Leach? Petrino? I often wondered how VN would react if it wasn't Gruden. It wouldn't have been what happened today. Currie had to go out and sign a MOU with literally the only person that could have initiated this response. Reading the tweets of outside media...will anyone come and take this job now? Who is going to have that responsibility to go out and find a coach? Currie should be gone. I hope there are legs to this story. I am not ready to give up on the Vols.

You guys are cute. Read my posts, look for word tomorrow after Currie meets with administration

I got ya back on this ! Honestly, I don't bite very often and don't post much... I believe you tonight bro. There seems to be some smoke here and Currie has surely S*** in his hat.

Unbelievable 24 hours in Volnation. Here's the deal: The fish rots from the head down. The head in this case is the Haslams and their dirty money, then you have to blame the prez, chancellor and AD. All should resign first thing tomorrow for bringing national shame to this once proud, great university.

As an alumnus and someone who has contributed mega bucks over the years (until the Kiffen fiasco ... now give my alma mater donations to Pat's foundation), today's potential hire of Schiano was a disgrace. Now it's time to demand a total housecleaning.

Fulmer needs to take over the AD and search duties immediately, then bring in Blackburn full time once the new head-Coach contract has been signed. I wouldn't mind bringing Cutcliffe home to clean up this mess of a program and get us on track to respectability. Bring Tee or Jim Bob home, too, then hand one keys to the kingdom after a few years.

We are at the bottom of the barrel in the SEC and have been headed to this depth since the day Fulmer was fired. Lift the curse once and for all.

Phillip and Peyton, please kick the Haslams to the curb before the Feds do the honors.

As AD? Phil is gonna negotiate contracts?

Follow me on this. We start having Schiano rumors flying around before the Vanderbilt game was over. We have a twerp dumber than D4H supporting him, and others arguing with him and dropping links to the Washington Post story.

Yet with all this secrecy, that twerp is telling us here that Schiano will get the job on Saturday and public opinion interrupts negotiations tonight that nobody but insiders should have known about. I smell a big fat rat now.

If this doesn't remind me of Phil rooting out Johnny in 92, I don't know what else could. I wouldn't doubt it if Phil was on the grassy knoll. This is too damn obvious.
