Currie: focusing long term and 0 an 5 is unacceptable in sec!

Butch is Not the guy. I'm not sure why you'd say that unless you believe we can't do any better. If you want Championships even in the East, then we pretty clearly must move on and find a strong game-time coach with great player development ability. As for Currie, I believe he's likely come to this decision as well. However, he's going to be very strategic about it. He won't be like many on VN who simply want Butch Fahred yesterday.

How can we say that he's not the guy to win championships. We're still building this program Brick by Brick, and I'm not ready to just blow down the brick wall foundation that has been built. Are you ready to do that?

My post wasn't meant to be funny. Butch is the guy. We're not going to be able to attract anybody any better, and could in fact do worse. I think we should be content with who we've got, hope that things don't get too out of control against So Miss, and settle in for the long haul with CBJ. I don't think he's been given enough time. Rome wasn't built in a day, and I think he's making significant progress year over year, especially in a very difficult SEC East.
I know it's sarcasm but you should be Jones press agent. :)

Thank you for the kind words, but no sarcasm intended. Let's be honest here. If you're ranking 'destination' jobs in the SEC, here's the ranking:

Alabama
Georgia
Florida
LSU
A&M
Auburn
Miss St.
Arkansas
S. Carolina
Ole Miss
UT
UK
Vandy
Misery

I challenge anyone to prove me wrong.

What have you been smoking. Did you bring enough for every one.

I was right there with you until fairly recently. But, I've come to the conclusion that 5 years is enough to learn how to coach and develop players. Butch just isn't getting it. Now, with the program in better shape than before, let's try and go get someone with proven ability in these areas.Though, I'm right there with you on the need for patience. If we want to win, we've got to be strategic (don't fahr people after every disappointing result). Coaches want to go to stable places where they know they'll have support.

I believe Tennessee can be right up there with anyone in the SEC in terms of being a destination. As others have pointed out, we have the facilities, great fan support, and a growing recruiting area. You can win here. If your only looking at recent success, Tennessee falls likely after A&M on your list. But, it could easily jump ahead for some coaches.

I respectfully disagree.

While you are certainly entitled to your opinion. That team should never have and doesn't have near the athletes, size and speed Tennessee has. Also that team should never have the coaching Tennessee has. Just my opinion if teams like that beat Tennessee there is a legit prob somewhere.

My point with a list like this is that 'better' is something that changes over the longer haul of course. In the late 90's, Tennessee was up there with anyone in terms of a destination. If we didn't have the inept Hamilton making the call on a new coach, we'd still likely be up there. Thus, of course Alabama and Florida look better now. But, we can be right back up there fairly quickly. I'm hoping a coach candidate see that.

Ok Butch I was on your side and hopeful until the SC game, but it is over. That being said, I don't mind staying to try and become bowl eligible, as long as we have replacement dialed in.

We have a better chance going to a bowl with an interim

Totally agree, this is just how I see it right now. Historically we’ve been in that top group, and I see no reason why we can’t be ther again.

We need to let Currie do his job, then if he muffs it up, take action. We know nothing of what has gone on behind closed doors and as long as the players are playing as hard as they have the last month, I see no reason to push Jones out now. Besides, it's never a good look to fire your coach mid season

No way the 5 right in front of us are in front of us!
We should be 5th or 6th at worst, and only that low due to recruiting

I just hope that the decision to fire him hasn't been officially made yet. If we lose by more than two TD's to Southern Miss, then of course a change has to be made.
But we can still win out and maybe even make it to the Taxslayer Bowl this year. #ChampionsOfLife

A bowl game would be huge for this team. Not huge for the program. But for this team, yes....

Joined October 2017, thinks Butch is good for the program long haul. Yeah, I totally believe you're not a troll.

How in the world are Ole Miss, South Carolina, Arkansas, and Miss St more appealing jobs than Tennessee?

Because you're talking to an Alabama fan. Seriously. Ole Miss is about to get hammered by the SEC, and they are a better job than us according to this a**hat.
