There wasn't a true "coaching search" that was ever conducted anyway, so it is kind of irrelevant when Butch was fired. Currie did fire Butch too late, but I don't think it cost Tennessee a shot at getting someone.

Mullen was the only coach that was seriously considered other than Schiano. The released emails/texts basically confirmed that. Tennessee had no shot at him anyway once the Florida job opened up.

Chip Kelly going to UCLA is what ultimately led to Currie's downfall. If Kelly took the Florida job, it is quite possible Mullen would be in Knoxville right now.

I'm still raw over the idea anyone with a set of man beans and a brain on this planet thought Schiano would be a good hire for UT and then doubled down by castigating the fans for rejecting that azz clown .500 coach.
