Agreed on clock management. He def missed more than one opportunity to put points on the board last season.I think that Heupel still needs to make some progression in his coaching, mostly in on the field coaching such as clock management. But I also feel he has the most important quality a head coach needs which is leadership, and he has that in spades.
I have to be honest...I've seen similar statements made about every coaching staff we've had when compared to the previous regime...then you almost immediately hear about the real goings on as soon as that staff is fired...
I've seen several reasons to believe that this staff is legit good...both on and off the field...I'm crossing my fingers that it translates to the field and all of the statements made in this article turn out to be true...
You'll have to forgive if I'm skeptical...I've just seen this story before
I was optimistic because I always am and we were recruiting very well… I always thought Butch was a corn ball but I thought he would still be able to win… Butch was a fraud heup never makes me feel that way… last years team executed at a higher level on offense then any Butch era team… heup is a true X and O innovative coach that has real leadership skills and has won at a high clip as a player and coach… he must continue to improve but I’m not worried because he preaches that and lives it. This is also the best overall staff we have had in a long time… cohesiveness and very smart offensive staff with a defensive staff that is proven and experienced at the DL OLB and Secondary position… this UT team will execute at a high level if we are able to get off the field on 3rd down a few more times per game we are going to have a really good year.First two years Butch was here, we were giddy.
Hoping JH continues his progression, unlike Butch.
Apparently he's the Frerking man! He already owns a Frerking multi-million dollar landscaping business?!?! That's pretty Frerking impressive to not even be done with college yet.Kudos to the coaching staff and the culture they’ve built. On a side note, am I the only one who has no idea who Grant Frerking is?
First day on the job JH divided the team and played dodge ball, talked a lot of smack also. He won this team over day one, players know he's genuine.I have to be honest...I've seen similar statements made about every coaching staff we've had when compared to the previous regime...then you almost immediately hear about the real goings on as soon as that staff is fired...

Not just for the players but for the fans too. Even when we played “well” under Pruitt it was horrible to watch. Our style of play is way more exciting now and it’s much more enjoyable.Agreed on clock management. He def missed more than one opportunity to put points on the board last season.
It does seem like he has made football fun again for the players. Heupfully he can win.
