...On who is going to win the SEC this year. ESPN loves us?

What is FPI?

The Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.

Alabama at 13%? I know we all hate them but that's ridiculous. I'd say flip flop them and LSU and its right. Difference between 33% and 32% is just splitting hairs. JMO

I'd flip Alabama and Tennessee. I think we're great favorites to come out of the East and play in the SECCG, but I don't think we can be favored over those two to win the SEC title.

Everyone turning on salami this year. Most predicting two loses. A lot of new pieces to fit together this year. Everyone else is just as talented. Turmoil in the locker room as kiffen ghetto attitude takes affect. Take your stars and shove them.

No one is as talented as Alabama this year....no one. I know you severely dislike Alabama, as do I. But 6 or 7 straight #1 recruiting classes defines them as the most talented team going.

Can't disagree with that. I'd say Bama definitely, LSU would be a straight pick.

Tennessee does have the talent to beat Bama as well. This year is probably the best chance we have at ending the Bama losing streak. Having the game in Neyland helps a ton too.

We can beat them, yeah. Matter of fact, I'm predicting we will this year. But it'll be because we have a talented team with more experienced depth and leadership....not because we'll be more talented because it's an empirical fact that Alabama has been and continues to be the most talented team in the country. The gap between them and teans like Tennessee, LSU, FSU, Clemson and others may not be as wide as it once was, but there's definitely still a gap.

I'll agree with that as well. I think it's marginal but it's still there. I mean when you basically replace 5 stars with 5 stars it's hard to not be the most talented team in the country year and year out.

I sure hope that Team 120 lives up to all these expectations that are being created. We have the talent and the experience. It would be nice to be able to throw some shade back at people/friends when they laugh at hearing TN associated with big games.

I believe in you Team 120. Now please, please, please reward that faith.

If we win the SEC, we win the playoff. Just my opinion but I think it is a good one.

We beat bammer twice . :pepper: But then .....:dunno: bammer has won before with a mediocre 'O' and a good 'D', boils down to one on one match ups.

This is statistics based on FPI numbers. Our odds of making ATL from the East is better than anyone log jammed in the west. Thus it's just odds. This is not picking which team is most talented. That's different.

get your next pay check and put it down on this being correct at the end of the year.

i understand why the numbers point in our direction and LSU's.

but they won't mean a hill of beans when GA and FL play out their relatively easier schedules, and LSU and TN play Bama.

Bama has a very tough schedule, but dose anyone think they're really going to go 9-3 or worse?

I think talent is proved, with time, on the field. Not so much by stars.

Why? bama lost a lot of starters, has an unproven qb and we get them at home this year. Give an SEC west team an additional SEC loss and it may be hard to make it to Atlanta in the first place. And if you don't make it to Atlanta, you're not winning the SEC. Now you may have a scenario like bama and LSU a couple of years ago were bama was clearly the better team, but didn't win the SEC, and that's what we're talking about here.

Jake, I really do think Bama goes either 10-2 or 9-3 in the regular season this year. Two losses more likely than three, but either result is quite possible.

So you can borderline-chalk me up as one.

i think Bama has the best chance of losing 2 and still making ATL of the SEC W teams.

a) all the SEC W teams have to play Bama and LSU so you could argue all of them will have 2 losses, and lose tie breakers.
b) all the other SEC w teams play each other, so even if there's an upset over LSU or Bama, chances are they'll still eat their own, a al Ark over Ole Miss after Ole miss over Bama like last year.
c) Bama beating LSU is the game they have to have
d) losing @TN being the 2nd loss wouldn't hurt them at all as long as they beat LSU.

Bama's road is tough. that's why their 3rd on the list per the numbers. LSU and TN get Bama at home, and relatively speaking the road is easier.

the reality......LSU and TN both would have to beat Bama to keep them out of the SEC title game. and LSU would have to go 11-1. but would you be surprised if LSU lost to Ole Miss and say Ark or aTm?

no, you wouldn't. you would if Bama did though....and that's the point. Bama is at worst probably 10-2. LSU's floor is probably 9-3, depending on the Bama game.

so it boils down to Bama vs. LSU, as usual.

We know faith. As usual, we've veered away from the original thread topic 😬
