Current Commits/Targets (UPDATED)

Several of you guys (Eric, OCI, and SpringBok) have mentioned that you think Bullock will walk on (I assume he will be a PFO). Is this just a feeling that you all have, or is there some evidence (past precedent, statement from player/coach, etc.) that points to it.

Thanks.

In my case it is more of a logic based opinion. I just don't see Dooley, who comes from the Saban tree, turning away a top talent because he has a kicker coming in that may not even play at all next year. It just doesn't make sense.

Add in that Bullock lives in Knoxville and could easily live at home for a semester and go to school and it just makes too much sense.

Also this type of thing happens everywhere, I don't have a specific name for you but I know it does.

Thanks for your input. Your logic does make sense, and I would hate to pull the rug out from under any kid, but you make a good point about him living in Knoxville.

On another note, I saw that Q. Davis and Robison are both visiting this weekend. This begs the question that if both want to commit this weekend, do we accept, or tell them that they have to wait until we see what Kirven and Patterson do? Obviously CDD wouldn't use those words but you see my point...

I think we get Davis, hopefully not Robinson not impressed with him

It's gonna be Davis and Kirven per recent news on 247. They didn't come out and say it's Davis and Kirven but anyone with any sense at all who reads the updates can read between the lines and see that they will sign with Tenn

Good to hear, hopefully if do lose Santos,I would hope to Shelton in his place, does anyone see this happening?

This is how I see things working out - which means it won't work out this way:

1. Bullock walks on
2. We don't lose any current commits
3. We can add 3 more:
Kirven
Briscoe
Robison

Bullock cannot walk-on and still play. He has officially visited UT. He would be ineligible for a year if he did.

Assuming the staff is planning on using him for kickoffs, would this be a huge issue? Personally it wouldn't stop me from accepting CP's committment

Davis, Robison for Santos, Kirven, Briscoe

Edit: This is not what I want but what I expect with Santos.

I highly doubt Bullock walks on just to be ineligible for a year, and it being this late in the game I'm not sure if you want to make TN HS coaches mad with some of the in-state talent here the next two years.

Understandable, but who knows what he's been told. He is a local, in-state kid, kicking for his home town school at the end of the day. Why wouldn't he want to wait his turn, not like he is realistically expecting to be the starting kicker or punter this year anyway. I just think there are a few options in play here depending on who is left to sign with UT on NSD and we should consider everything

Well, I would hope he was told that he couldn't OV so that he could walk-on and be eligible rather than OVing and being ineligible. If he ends up here, he is going to be put on scholarship.

How can this be? We are not forced to offer everyone who visits are we? If we yank an offer from a player who visits, isn't it their right to enroll as a tuition paying student, walk on to the team, and kick the bloody football?

Who made this stupid rule, if it exists?

He could walk-on anywhere else or get an offer anywhere else, but he couldn't walk-on at UT after having the school pay for him and his family to come visit unless he sits out a year.

Weird, weird rule. Makes no sense to me. Thanks for the info.

Not sure if this is legit info but it would suggest otherwise:

Does taking an Official Visit to a college mean you will get a scholarship offer from them during the athletic recruiting process? | Recruiting 101

Quote: "Division I-A (BCS) football schools may also want to get recruits on campus to talk to them about their situation. Some schools inform the athlete beforehand and others don’t that they want to bring them on as a walk on. Most schools have enough official visits left that they bring these potential walk ons for official visits. If you know coming in that they want you to walk on, it is a lot easier than being blindsided on the trip.
In my opinion, the majority (80% or greater) of official visits do end up with athletes having scholarship offers from that school. The reason is because these schools are limited in the amount of official visitors that they can bring on campus. They would not be bringing in players who they feel cannot play so you really are among their top recruits."

Sorry if it's been mentioned. I thought I read that Q Davis had a 4.0 GPA? If that is so what would stop them from giving him an academic schollie, and freeing up that bottle neck a little ? Assuming he chooses us!

He would have to sit out a year if he walked on at UT now. I agree it's a stupid rule, but it is what it is. He will have a scholarship.

Can someone explain why Bullard, a transfer who has played a full year, counts against the number UT can recruit this year? I get why Thomas does.

He is a "recruited student-athlete" per NCAA rules, so that's not an option. Realistically, it's very rarely a viable option or a lot of programs would take this approach.

So if we sign all current commits plus land Kirven, Patterson, & Q Davis that would be 18 out of 24 players that are/were ranked 4 star or better by at least one recruiting service.

I'm pretty sure Bullard was a 4 star but can't remember T Thomas. So if you count Bullard its 19 out of 24 and 20 out of 24 if Tino was a 4 star.

Pretty impressive
