A few things stick out here:

1) Yes… Pruitt was STILL better for this program than Schiano would have been.
I’m not sure Schiano is worse than Pruitt. They both suck. I guess there are different levels to Dante’s hell but you’re still in hell. Both sides Wood have a pretty good argument.
I think he probably made more $$ in the NFL
His salaries were basically the same. The opportunities were different for sure. Rutgers versus the NFL and Jersey versus Tampa Bay.

In 2011, Greg Schiano was the head coach for the Rutgers University football team. His contract with Rutgers at that time was for a base salary of $785,000 for the 2011 calendar year, according to ESPN.

He signed a deal with Tampa for 5 years and $15 million.

So no, the money wasn't anywhere similar.

Schiano is a better football coach than Pruitt but probably would have ended like Butch. Couple decent but overall frustrating seasons and then a bad QB year crashes it down.

I really don’t see how anyone can say dor a fact that Pruitt was better than Schiano woild have been. Does anyone believe Schiano woild have gotten us hammered by the NCAA and turned us into the laughingstock of college football? I don’t.

Maybe. Then again he could have been much, much better. In hindsight I would have much rather had Schiano.

I think Pruitt was better for UT because he got fired faster.

we probably would have kept schiano for 5 years. never had a break out year, probably wouldn't have ended up with White as AD or Heupel as HC. and would have been stuck in middling territory hoping for a decent non-playoff bowl game.

2) Auburn hasn’t been ranked in 55 weeks of football?? Yeeeesh.

3) Awful lot of Big10 in there for all that big boy talk lately…

Crazy that Auburn is the SEC team on here, I would think it would be Vandy, Miss State, UK, or someone like that.

He only finished ranked once in his first stint. In 2006.
Yeah but I think he was ranked at some point in two additional seasons after that. He could have kept them steadily winning 8-10 games most seasons and if he were still there,10 wins is sometimes going to be good enough to get you into the CFP going forward, especially whenever they go to 16 teams.

I met several players on the 1995 Rutgers team. We rode the hotel elevator together. They were in New Orleans to play Tulane. I was there for a Mortgage Banking convention.

wonder if west virginia is to morgantown as memphis is to tennessee?

who decided on the state of west virginia? was it a joke between thomas jefferson and some buddies, like a bad card game bet?

West Virginia is a beautiful state but i sure as heck wouldn’t want to live there. Interesting fact when John Denver wrote “Take me home country roads “ he had never been to West Virginia nor did he ever live there.

I heard country roads played in Denver over and over. I kept thinking of all the hard hits towns in WV. Not sure what else to say. Its really really sad. But when corporations and State's refuse to diversify the economy, you get this.
