Curfew

I didn't know if he was permitted to and also if it would even be feasible like you guys are saying.

He could issue a curfew, but long term it would not help. The bad apples will eventually get out and repeat their stupidity. Myles is gone. Any bets on how long Da'Rick lasts? With the exception of Janzen, even though he put himself in a bad situation the other night, he did have enough sense to get the hell out of there when the thuggery started. It just seems that once these kids screw up, it is nearly certain they will do it again.

I was hoping injuries was the only ball we had to dodge this year but I forgot about the "thugball." This is embarassing on several fronts but Dooley will sort it out and make solid decisions. Remember he's an attorney so he can navigate through the BS.

The last couple of days have been pretty dramatic.

Hard to say it doesn't seem like a curfew is not needed.

These are grown men. If they are bound and determined to ruin their lives a curfew won't stop jack.

Having said that, this isn't a situation that is unique to our team. People do stupid things and get into trouble, these young men will either stop at the risk of losing out on a lucrative future or they will be dismissed.

Props to Janzen. I think he knows he has a lot to lose if he does not fly right. Maybe Janzen can talk to other guys about it.

There you go - you hit the nail on the head. They're certainly not ordinary, peaceful citizens.

He can do whatever he wants. Wouldn't be easy to administer, but he can certainly implement one if he wishes.

I totally agree. Difficult to enforce, but if he decideds to make a point in trying something, its his team to do so.

Ordinary citizens don't have a spot light on them all the time. If they mess up no one cares.

Not really. How are you supposed to enforce it?

For anyone enrolled for summer school you do bed checks in the dorm, have the boys sign in and out, lock the lobby doors at midnight, have them doing voluntary workouts all day and night, have them doing work study or community service around campus--wear them out and keep them so tired they won't want to be anywhere but in their rack at 0200.

Okay, maybe that came from my Army days. . .sorry.:birgits_giggle:

I have been a college athlete and have had a team curfew before. At least half of the team never abided by the curfew.
We all hated it, and at one point we resented the players responsible for the coaching staff instituting said curfew. Night before game, sure, an 11pm curfew may not be a bad idea, but other than that, you just can't do it to 18-22 yr old young men.

If the team respects Coach Dooley, they will listen to it. There will be a couple guys that won't obey because that's who they are, but if the team respects him, they'll obey his law.
