Cuonzo Feeling Unwanted

Who gives a sh$t..... I don't give a f$ck about his opinion of our fans or our fan base....every fan base that cares in America behaves similarly to ours..... Look at what all was said about Butch after the Florida loss.... You get paid millions of dollars to coach.... It's time to be a tougher breed.

Why would a man feel the need to hire security? Because he feels like his family or himself are endangered. You don't randomly wake up one day and say "man, let's blow $40,000 on a security firm and cameras". If he felt like his family wasn't safe, then thus, he felt a need to hire security.

and I'm sure Mark Richt has allegedly received them as well.

My only answer to you is:

Can't beat a more reliable source than a player. I do agree the media did make it seem like race was the bigger issue to him getting fired, but I believe race definitely factored into his liking around the fanbase and administration. That's an opinion you can neither prove nor disprove, so arguing further on it is a mute point.

I do not think race had anything to do with it. I think it was Cuonzo's so called personality or lack thereof that was the problem. He wasn't a firey guy, which is something the fanbase had grown accustomed to in the Bruce Pearl era. Personality, not race, was the reason he didn't fit in in Knoxville. But, as usual, the race card will be pulled bc it is an easy default position.

Are his feelings still hurt?

Good question. If they were hurt two years ago, will they still be hurt three years from now? You can't start a new chapter if you keep re-reading the last one!

He had three guys on the roster that were getting NBA contracts and TN flamed out twice in the NIT and was an NCAAT bubble team that had to win a play-in game. Then in the NCAAT, drew a mediocre opponent and Duke to make the S16. But Duke folded against a mid-major giving TN an easy draw and all of a sudden CCM is a great coach? Then CCM uses planes supplied by UT for recruiting purposes to shop around for another job. His 4th team at UT was going to struggle to get more than 10 wins and then he pretends to be a victim. Well played Zo, well played.

Well Cuonzo isn't the one saying race was an issue. Why would a former player say that? What would put that thought in his mind?

You would have thought Dooley was a prime candidate for a petition...wait never happen!!

There was no SCREAM for fire coach midway the season petition if so i'm having trouble finding it? It came after a Vandy loss well you already hit rock bottom by then lol

Perhaps because both Cuonzo and "the player" are both of the same ethnicity?? I really don't know, but I would like to think that the Tennessee fanbase has gotten past something as superficial as racism. Racism is absolutely the disgrace of humanity, and if that was indeed the case for Cuonzo's short leash I would be very surprised.

I don't think that the petition was to get rid of CCM. It was to hire Bruce. Nobody wants TN to hire Dooley.

I like Cuonzo. But he couldn't take the pressure so he opted for the land of fruits and nuts. I'm happy for him... but he really might ought to quit showing his ass.

I saw this as well. 4 years earlier we made the elite eight. It's not like we are virgins to the tournament.

Now it's changed to the 2nd time since 2008. Guess he still missed the 2010 E8 run. SW16 in 2008 lost to UofL, 2010 E8 and 2013 SW16. Is it really that hard? Why have a clueless and lazy "journalist" spend time writing an article if they're not even going to spend time writing the article properly?

Holly has won an SEC championship and also an SEC tournament. She also has built one of the best rosters in the country. If not for key injuries, she would probably already have a Final Four.

Go away troll.

Way to completely avoid the question. You really think Cuonzo was telling the players he was racially profiled? :birgits_giggle:

We are talking about a sport that is mostly black..... When everyone listed their favorite UT player of all time there was not a single white guy listed as a favorite player... My favorite coach right now of my pro teams is black Mike Tomlin.... Could some idiot have said something racial towards him or his family? Sure there are idiots every where but what he went through at UT had zero to do with race and everything to do with losing our coach Bruce Pearl.... If he came around after Buzz the heat would not have been near as bad.

First post ever just to celebrate this post. Cuonzo was a great man, but was garbage as a coach. He had 2 NBA players on his team, and only lucked into the Sweet 16 by drawing easy opponents. He could have Kentucky's players every year, and will still lose to the likes of East Tennessee School for the Blind, early in the season. And although the easy way out is to play the race card, race had nothing to do with it. Being a lousy basketball coach has everything to do with it. Cal will make the NCAA tourney a couple of times with Cuonzo at the helm, but will never make it past the Sweet 16. And they will lose a couple of games early in the season that they shouldn't. You can count on that.
