The blocked punt was huge now, huh....unfortunately I had said earlier we were due for one.
I want to talk about though that this kid's release worries me. The staff was talking about it all summer as a worry that he gets the punts off a little slower than colquitt and I think it very much may have come back to bite us in the butt this game.
Now I know I'm going to hear about the line, I know it's there fault too, you've got to block for the punter. But it you look at the replay, the ball's already off his foot before it's blocked, maybe for 1/2 a second or so. It makes me wonder that maybe, if he didn't take his sweet time that play, he might have been able to get it over the hands of the UCLA players.
However, I can't really argue whether the block would/wouldnt happen. However, the main question I pose is, what's going to happen to this kid later this season against UF, UGa and other teams that will rush us more now? Are we going to see more blocked punts in 08 as the season goes on?
