I remember two football players who beat up 11 people in the same location (this bar had a different name then) in the mid 1980's but they were two white boys just having fun and were starters so it was all hushed up. This culture has been part of UT football since the 1960's and has nothing to do with race. While I was in school there were numerous assaults, rapes, attempted rapes, theft, shoplifting, domestic violence (remember an All-American who liked to give his girlfriend black eyes), drugs and guns in Gibbs Hall and an accessory to murder charge against a former Vol. Dickey, Battle, Majors, even Fulmer to an extent went to great lengths to cover up issues that needed to be prosecuted as crimes so this latest incident does not surprise me. I am a UT Alum, love Vols Football and hope that Dooley will do what's right. Let's clean up our reputation - the internet, modern media and technology make it impossible to keep these things hushed up. Being from the Ghetto or being from Beverly Hills does not make one violent or gangster, these are young men who have the opportunity, a privilege to use their amazing talents to get a free education and in such they represent us and our alma mater and must realize they are held to a higher standard. If this means Dooley has to dismiss 5 or 6 folks and we lose every game this fall then that's what needs to be done. Go Vols!
