Culture Change

It doesn't make recruiting any easier for Dooley and staff.

This...it's destabilizing and undermines CDD's message, at the minimum. The recruiting momentum that we were starting to pick up has certainly slowed. Long term, who knows? Depends on the severity of losses in the 0 & D-lines through suspensions and/or dismissals. This is probably the most critical year for CDD since recruits will judge on-field play and competitivenes as a major factor in their decision-making process. Most everybody realizes the potential catastrophe if we lose projected starters in the Vols already thin ranks at these positions.

so if dooley is successful and changes the culture....the players focus on school and football and stay out of bars. what would be the effect?.....better teams?.....worse recruiting?
.........................what does VolNation think?
Dooley is going to change the culture. It will help in all areas. Better football "TEAMS" on the field. Higher quality people playing for UT!!! Have you noticed how disciplined Alabama is. I believe they get top notch talent. You see virtually no "hot dogging". I'll bet Saban had something to say to Cody after he blocked the FG and displayed such nonsense on the field.

I want to talk about running and passing the football and knocking the snot out of any opposing player ON THE FIELD. I am growing weary of the few thugs that get on our team. I hate to cheer for them when they make a good play. I was a huge Atlanta Hawks fan when Dominique and Doc Rivers played, but the thuggery after that turned me off. I don't even know if they were in the playoffs this year or not. I don't want that to happen with the Vols, who I love the most. Most of the players are good kids and worthy of our support. lt is a shame that prison garb and the lack of respect for authority and fellow human beings is the cool thing with many young people. Manhood has to be earned by beating someone half to death because they were "dissed". It doesn't take a thug to be a man, just the opposite. I would choose not to spend money to watch a loser or a thug play. JMO. I just hope that DD can get this worked out over time and we can start winning and being proud of our team again.

Here's an honest question. If all the 4 stars that we lost off the 2007, 2008, and 2009 classes were only 3 stars but we're still here how much better off would we be?

We could go to the bars, start our own fights and let the players read about us. Nevermind that wouldn't work because we are normal people and it wouldn't be in the papers or on the news.

Somebody needs to teach the guys that it takes a bigger man to walk away from a silly misunderstanding, that is unless he punches you then you're free to kick the dog snot out of him.

Actually someone needs to teach them to turn the other check and walk away unless someone threatens them with serious harm or death. They don't need that non-sense to prove they're men... and they have alot more at stake than some punk in a bar. If the greatest story in that punk's life is that "I punched UT's DT and got away with it"... so be it. The player has much more potential out of life than "I could have been a pro or a college grad but instead I was kicked out of school for a stupid, meaningless bar fight".

It will be a better team, Championship team, in the long run but it takes patience. I still think there are some guys up there they may have to go for it to get right. We had a few kicked off and then a few hanger oners during Sabans first year but it didn't take long for them to get the picture.

Coach Dooley will get it done if given the chance, the guy is a class act.

FCLK performed a massive cleansing...does anyone think that we can withstand another one with all the other attrition? I mean how many years can we be set back and get back to the 85 schollie limit?

Currently, we are 2-3 recruiting cycles out to get to 85.
