Just curious…. Is your artificial sweetener addiction a Coca Cola product problem?
Depends.....if you're the one selling coca cola or the one trying to lose weight. There's deffinately something about the artificial sweeteners though. I have seen studies where people only switch going from regular soda (FULL OF SUGAR) to diet sodas....and it ends up making less of a diff on weight loss then one would guess. Though it's a huge improvement on Blood Sugar obviously, and for liver health etc (sugar being poison).

My theory which is purely anecdotal, and experiance biased..is it has to do with appetite. Artifical Sweeteners are actually sweeter then sugar. And they push appetite in a big way so you eat/snack more, and it's harder to feel satisfied. (kinda like dieting while smoking the herb) So if you just drank water you would eat less then when you say drink artifical sweetened drink mix, or diet soda. Beyond that I am not sure....But they do seem to hamper weight loss. They also of course will continue to fake out your brain on when you need insulin, and therefore increase insulin resistance as your body tries to counter the false signal. I have also heard it can mess up your gut biome and health, but I have not taken the time too look into that. Heaven help me though they are harder to give up for me then nicotine. But If I could get past using them and stick to water and tea with no sweetener, I bet I would have lost twice as much. People doing just water butter bacon and beef are doing better faster. So while I may not succeed in eliminating them, I am trying to reduce them.

I only ask because of my experience with a nutritionist.
Everyone has a different body chemistry and there’s no one answer for everyone but there are common problems. High fructose corn syrup and artificial sweeteners are both the devil. If you’re needing something to drink to replace that soda addiction and water doesn’t do it because you need flavor too there are sports drinks that are sweet but have no “added sugars”. They are balanced with just the sugar from the natural ingredients that burn instead of store in your system. I’ve found several flavors in the “body armor “ brand that do it for me. It’s replacement thinking. Replace something that’s bad with something you enjoy just as much that’s good

Yup it's a double edged sword, on one hand I would do better if I didn't consume the artifical sweeteners. On the other hand I have got my a1c down to a 6.6 and nearly reversed my diabetus, would I have been successful with out them? Would I be able to have stick with such a strict carb diet this long without them? I have doubts. Still while a1c was top goal weight is second, more excercise and less artifical sweeteners would help. One good thing I will say is because I basicaly am almost NO carb, and deff less then 5 carbs a day probably.....everything sweet tastes sweeter. I mean super sweet. I have gotten away from diet sodas (more so because of inflation really) and use drink mixes more, and because sweeteners taste SOOO sweet I usually use twice as much water when mixing them now. Otherwise it's nasty sweet. So I am already using MUCH MUCH less artifical sweeteners now then I did when I was going through diet sodas like crazy. I also really just enjoy the flavored sparkling waters. I used to think those were nasty. Your taste buds change.

Spindrift offers sparkling water with a hint of fresh fruit juice. Some may contain naturally occurring sugars in very small amounts (0 - 15 calories per can). I’ve enjoyed the lemon and lime ones last summer.
