Man I live out in the woods you see. On the real I have been using lighter fluid to start the charcoal and let it burn off what's wrong with lighter fluid? I would rather have that contraption device though.
Best thing ever for starting charcoal. Don't use that kingsford chit either. Use chunk hardwood. fill it up and put some newspaper underneath with a little cooking oil on it.

@theFallGuy that's pretty difficult to beat? Do you happen to have a charcoal starter built from the shell of a WW2 combat tank?
Lulz. That's kinda what I was gone say. These fools up here are serious about they grillin. Datgum 747 airplane parts and crap.

I throw some charcoal on, light fluid and a match...boom. If the neighbors kid catches fire I just roll him around on the ground til he's just smokin..

When it gets going I add more charcoal and water soaked hickory chunks and I'm ready.

I used to use a green egg, but I gave it to a friend because I hardley ever used it. I use my gas grill 99% of the time though, mostly for searing ahi.

Nothing wrong with it IMO.. I won't use any kind that already has the fluid soaked in it "quick start" or whatever. That crap is turrble.
I bought mesquite natural charcoal it's clean and meant to be used with a starter but I didn't have one and got tired of it not lighting so I put a little lighter fluid on it to get it going. After it got going the meat off it had a better taste than the propane. I am going to have to see who it's made by because it was good.

I don't like mesquite, but that's just a personal taste, nothing wrong with it. Actually more than anything I'm just a die hard fan of hickory. If no hickory just plain oak.

And ain't nothing wrong with lighter fluid either. You don't need to soak it down like most people do I put a little on a small pile then when its going good I add more charcoal....now, their way with a starter is better, but don't let them tell you the fluid is a NO NO and your neighbors are laughing at you. That ain't why they laughing at you.
