I know there has been threads on starting LBs for next year, but anyone in the know! Out of these three players does any one of them have a leg up on maybe starting next year? Who is the most talented?

I feel like Crump is the most talented. He's big and fast. None of them will start next year probably, maybe the year after.

Agreed. I know that Ole Miss got destroyed, However I was impressed by former UT commit D.T. Shackford. Would have been a starter for us next year.

Crump can make the starting rotation next year.... but will easily make the rotation at LB.

Austin Johnson and Lathers are probably going to start....... The other outside linebacker spot/spots (depending on 4-3 or 3-4 defense) are up for grabs.

You have King, Crump, Probst, Vereen, Askew, Martaze Jackson, Mitchell-Thorton, and Nelson that could get legit looks at starting rotation linebackers. Plus any freshmen ready to step in (Johnson).....

This will be something worth watching in the off-season.

Johnson doesn't have the skills to play linebacker in this league. Lathers has decent speed and athleticism but is to inconsistent. He's not very good in pass coverage, and takes bad angles to the ball.

Propst is very likely going to start at Mike. already understands the system and calls. staff is very high on him..

I think he does. he's been in this system for a year now. I only expect him to get better next year. He's not going to be an all SEC caliber LB, but he will be a solid player for us.

The best part is those are easily fixed with proper coaching, experience and another off season. He can fly around the field and has had a pretty big impact as a pass rusher from the LB spot in the past few games.

Austin Johnson is NOT athletic enough to be a 3 down starter at LB in the SEC. Unless you want to be a bad team. Johnson is great on obvious run downs and in the goal line package because he's big, physical, and strong. But in space...he'd be a disaster against TE's and quicker RB's.

we're talking about the same Austin Johnson that outran the USCe secondary last year right? I think he's quick enough to play.
