On Jordan Williams and Jaylen Miller.

"I wouldn't say that either of them are having a bad camp but at the same time neither seem to be jumping out. I have talked with Stripling both times the asst.'s have been available after practice and he hasn't singled out either one of those guys for praise during either session.

Obviously, Vereen is the young guy that he's been talking about a lot along with Jason Carr. Not saying he's down on Williams or Lewis, b/c it didn't come across that way at all, but doesn't appear that either is really stamped himself as a difference maker in the eyes of the staff yet.

During the Tennessee drill stuff that we have seen the last two days Jaylen Miller has kind of jumped out as a guy with some talent and obviously Butch has seen the same things as he went out of his way to give him some props tonight."

To make sure I understand this, them = L. Lewis and J. Williams, correct?

Sounds like Jaylen Miller may be passing them?

Fine by me - I just want the best to play.

No.... Rob is strictly talking about Jaylen and Jordan. I had to re-read it myself to make sure.

What has been said about Jason Carr? I must have totally missed that.

Ron or anybody,
Have I missed it, or have they said anything about Lemond Johnson and AJ Bransiel? Can somebody ask about them? TIA
Randolph said Lemond doesn't know the playbook, which is alarming considering he was an EE, but he said he's working hard. Branisel has said to be doing okay, but no real threat for serious playing time IMO

1. Between Carr and J Miller who in your opinion will make an impact early and is Carr getting his reps at DE or the 3?

2. From what you have seen so far are the 2 freshmen corners ahead of Jones for the corner opposite Coleman and of the 2 freshmen who would you say has looked better?

3. Who are they looking at in the NB spot other than Toney and Coleman?

4. Do either freshman QB have a realistic shot at winning the job and which one has impressed you more?

5. Sapp as we all know has been receiving rave reviews all off season would you compare this to what Fowlkes did last off season or will Sapp have a bigger impact this year Steven did last season?

1. I would say Miller based on what we hear. He's playing an easier position to play as a freshman from a physical standpoint and two ends are out with injuries.

2. Jones has missed some time due to class. I think both freshmen are pushing him and that's going to be a good three way race there. The coaches really like Sutton. Really like him.

3. Swafford

4. I don't think either will win the job. I think both took a nice step last night. I like what Dobbs is doing. His command is good and he's not risky with the ball. Ferguson is a bit more of a gunslinger, but he throws it a little better than Dobbs in my opinion.

5. Sapp is a defensive leader and a starter. If his impact is only what Fowlks did a year ago this this defense is in real trouble. They need Sapp big time.

In the Brian Randolph interview, Randilph said Lemond has looked good but still needs to improve badically. Strip has said Carr has looked good so far

Thanks OF and Wu, must've missed it! I'm really liking this Freshmen class, not crazy flashy but seems it will be a productive class. Nice groundwork for our future.

Has there been any word from vereen MRI??

Really would like a response from anyone in the know about this...

We REALLY need Vereen, especially now that Jac is down for the better part of a month.

....and am I the only one that thinks "Wrap that thing in a club and get your a** back out there!!"...?

I've heard of several guys play under similar circumstances.

It has to heal to a degree before he can play in a cast. If it heals at a normal rate then getting him back for Austin Peay in a cast is a real possibility. But if there's alot of swelling and issues as it heals the he might not be back that week.

DL recruiting...

Barnett - Heading to Vanderbilt this weekend with his family. Still no timetable on a decision he's told me this morning. We'll see how the visit goes this weekend for Vandy and go from there.

Elam - Vols are a long shot. I think they'll get an official visit, but have a lot of ground to make up to be a real player. Alabama and Kentucky are the two right now for Elam. OSU in there as well.

Mosley - He told me the other night he could do something later this month. We'll see what he says about his visit this weekend and go from there.

Lambert - I know a lot of people think it's Florida, but Tennessee is very much alive here. Don't know that it's over yet.

Hendrix - Tennessee and Florida at the top and he'll be taking his official visit there in October. Tennessee will get one as well.

Cerenord - I'm not sure. They offered him just a few days ago so if they didn't plan on taking him immediately and he wasn't planning on committing I'm not sure why they offered.

Humphreys - I think Tennessee is higher on other linemen right now.

Maybe it has already been asked, but now that Powell is gone, does that open up talks with Stanton Truitt again?

Football forum is saying Vereen will be back...any confirmation on this??
That was someone speculating on something Butch said before the MRI. I've listened to TSR all day and a lot of guys don't seem concerned, but nothing is for certain yet.

I would be surprised if they even considered playing J. Smith for Austin Peay, even if he was healthy. We can play our backups and still win big. They are bad.

I think they will slowly get him some plays against WK and then be ready for Oregon.
